Thanks everyone! After reading this thread and having already spent time studying at least 1500 questions, I didn't waste any of my money on the expensive reviews out there. Took the test yesterday and saw my RN license number at the state board site today. I used the Kaplan review book, Prioritizing book, Illustrated Guide to Nclex-Rn, Mosby and HESI-RN. I did all the review questions for the Illlustrated Guide, and also the Delegating book. I studied Mosby last if I needed more detail. The infection Control page was well done in the Mosby book. I did the HESI RN test twice since they were the most difficult questions I could find. Used the rationals to learn/reinforce content. A lot of infection control, and Prioritizing. I also happened to get a disproportionate amount of select all that apply questions. Lost count after 13...I didn't have any calculations, and only 3-4 Pharm. Just took the NCLEX, and sure wish I found this thread! I must have had over 13 SATA. I got one ever 3-4 questions. I would have rather narrowed my answer down to 2 choices and have difficult questions then all those SATA. The chance of getting one of the regular difficult one correct seems to have better odds. I stopped at 75 and no idea how I have done. I think maybe I can say I got 5 right. Prioritizing, infectious control had the most. About 3 pharm, 5-6 Med-surg and Zero Calculations. From my reading, I thought the test was suppose to be staged...going up in difficulty if you are getting them correct, and easier when you miss a few. I found that the SATA were mostly difficult!

Hello! I am scheduled to take the NCLEX in two weeks. I have already done about 2000 questions and read the rationals to the ones I have missed. I don't want to take a review course, but would like to hear how others prepared for the NCLEX. I scored 850 on the HESI without studying for it. I have Saunders, Mosby, Lippincott, Zerwekh. I'm getting nervous as I spend hours studying and seem to feel like there is so much to know. I also read the stratgies in the Kaplan. Any plan or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I made the mistake of looking on this site for prep with the NCLEx and a lot of seem to be using the Kaplan Reivew or something. Aren't these books that cost an arm and a leg good for something??? :wink2: Trying not to sweat the small stuff.

Thanks, I wasn't sure about using Saunders for Block 4. In the other blocks, I reviewed it a little but relied more on the Illustrated NCLEX book that came with our books, and that seemed to work well. I was asking in the sense that our instructors keep saying the questions for block IV are not going to be anything like the questions for the other blocks so I wasn't sure if my Saunders would work either. Great to hear it helped for the NCLEX. Did you find the questions to be out of the usual NCLEX style for block IV? Much appreciate the response!

Block 4 help...I have the Kaplan 2008-2009 and Saunders. Did anyone find the Saunders helpful for content for exams? I am at Gateway and they keep saying it is intense and the questions are harder. Does anyone know what Nclex book would be helpful outside of Saunders for the "tough" NCLEX questions? I bought the Priority book...just don't have good resouces for OB and Peds. Thank you!
