  1. I'll be at the Valley starting August 2009.....I know at least 6 people who attended and didn't have any complaints about the program. All are practicing successful anesthesia. So, maybe I'll see you there. Good Luck with your decision, I completely understand how hard it is.
  2. Allegheny/Laroche interviewed and accepted-starting Aug 2009
  3. Congrats! If you were accepted to OLOL, you should have a pretty good shot in Oakland! OLOL seems to have very competitive candidates! So only the best 30 get in. What is your 1st pick? How many schools did you apply to?
  4. Yes, I am from Louisiana what about you? I'm sure by the time you read this you will have received your letter. I heard it's a letter for yes or no. I will be attending the Allegheny/laroche college program in Pittsburgh. I know so many people from Louisiana who attended and loved it.
  5. Well, OLOL is a no for me. I received the letter in the mail today. Looks like I'm pittsburgh bound! I did not have a good interview.....The PD was focused on my "lack of experience" which I don't understand b/c I have 6 yrs cvicu, icu, sicu and 5 years cath lab/radiology.....I think b/c I don't currently work in critical care she decided I was "poor experience"......they need to change there requirements to say "must be current in critical care"...... Regardless, I will be a CRNA in 2011............Yippee!! Good Luck to all!
  6. Yes, I interviewed in Pittsburgh and got accepted.....at least I know I'm in for 2009 I did have another interview in Florida but declined. I guess we will know next week....... What other schools are you interviewing?
  7. Well, the interview was ok.....I'm not sure I got a good feeling....you know that gut feeling..... How did yours go? I was told by a student that the decisions will be made this Thrusday and letters will be mailed on Friday. Good Luck!
  8. A little of both for me too. This is definitely gonna be a new, exciting, stressful chapter. We plan on moving up there in the freezer around August (maybe the weather will be good..at least on our arrival, so we can slowly work our way into dressing like an eskimo....ha)...depends on my husbands new job...but most likely August.
  9. Anyone received interview letters for Fall 2009 start? They should be coming anyday now........
  10. Nope not yet, I was just wondering the same thing. I will post as soon as I receive anything. R u getting excited or nervous or both?
  11. Ram RN and AGHTRAUMA, I am so glad to hear from you. We will be spending alot of time together I'm sure. Our lives are about to change.....how exciting.....eat, sleep, study, class, clinical, eat, sleep, study, class, clinical.... I've been out of school since 1997 so this will def. be a change. My husband and I will also be moving to Pittsburgh in Aug. From what I hear the North Hills area is good and many former out of state students live there. AGHTRAUMA let me know if you have any other suggestions on places to live. I'm sure we will all have many more questions so lets keep in touch! For me to be able to send you a private message, you have to have 15 posts (I think). Thanks Kellee
  12. Yep, Allegheny Valley it is! Where r u from? I'm gonna be moving from Louisiana. I'm really excited and nervous at the same time but I am ready! When was ur interview?
  13. :yeah:Looking for Allegheny students accepted for Sept 2009 start. Can't wait to meet you.
  14. well, i understand your concern completely. i had an interview scheduled for feb. also but cancelled it because i found out i got accepted to another program. wolford was my last pick of 3 that i applied to. my problem is i don't personally know anyone who attended the program so it is very difficult to make a solid judgement....the only info i know about wolford is what i read on forums. good luck and hope someone can help you.
  15. rndee81, thanks soooo much, you are my new best friend! The info is beyond helpful! PM you soon!
  16. Thanks for the info! My numbers aren't as good as yours. Maybe with some luck and my knowledge of critical care. Just got CCRN yesterday! I actually just found out today that I an interview with Allegheny....kinda freakin out...just a little! I chose Nov 17. Already have flight and hotel booked! They told me to expect 2 1/2 hrs for interview ( you were on the money). I'm getting closer to PM...just a few more to go!
  17. thanks! yep gonna keep workin on enough posts! i'll give you a history of my experience: *1st 5 years CCU/CVICU/SICU...lots of post CABG *next 4 years cardiac cath lab/special procedures *next 2 years cardiac cath lab/radiology nurse/imaging nurse (cardiologists office)/CVICU/ICU I returned to critical care about 24hrs per week while still full time in radiology. I only did this to try and be "current in icu" while applying for crna school. Hope not going full time back to icu doesn't come back and bite me in the butt. What about you?
  18. great, maybe i'll see you there.....if i get lucky enough to interview and not totally bomb the interview
  19. so ya think you might be in for aug 2009 after you declined for 2008? i did hear that the interview was straight clinical questions. i would love to know your experience with the interview. i guess neither one of use have enough "meaningful posts" yet so you can share your info on this forum or you can send me a private message
  20. I am also applying to laroche/allegheny valley. Just curious when you interviewed? I was told that they will start notifying qualified applicants in Nov.
  21. ctucker, i guess i don't have enough posts yet so i can't pm you...is there another way i could send some questions your way... thanks!!
  22. Thanks so much for the info. I'll PM you with many questions! Allegheny told me that they should start notifying applicants the beginning of Nov! Got my fingers crossed!
  23. Hello all, I have applied to 3 schools, one of them being Allegheny Valley/Laroche in PA. I am looking for current students or graduates to give me some info on the clinical portion. From what I understand clinicals start after only 4mos of didactic. Do you find this difficult to balance didactic and clinical? Do you find it hard to keep up? I take whatever info you can give! :wink2:
  24. Most of the programs I've looked at require overall GPA of at least 3.0.....Some of the programs look very heavily at your science GPA. Looks like you will be fine! I know people who have been accepted with low 3's. The main thing is a combination of GPA, GRE, work expeirience, interview and if you have CCRN. So u are in school for MSN now?? GOOD LUCK
  25. Very interesting, Wolford is a popular topic! I submitted my app there for 2009 and all this talk is making me weirded out! I have major issues with ethics and greed! It's disheartening to know that many students of Wolford have had negative feelings or experiences. I definitely want to be able to function independently once I graduate. This is a majorly important decision. Anyone have an opinion!
