hey gemini79, Are you being paid while you are doing your preceptorship? Or, is it non-compensatory? How did you only have to do 500 hours? I never saw that in the posted rules on GBON's website. I only saw 350 for LPN's, and 700 for Paramedics.

I have confirmed an appointment to take the CPNE. Has anyone on this board taken CPNE @ Southern Regional Medical Center? What can I expect from SPAC CA's? Any tips? Any horror stories?

Is there any bias against Excelsior College graduates by the North Carolina Board of Nursing? Are there any hospitals in North Carolina that will not hire Excelsior grads? I am a Georgia resident and have planned to apply for a North Carolina license after I graduate from Excelsior and pass (fingers crossed) the NCLEX. I want to do this because 1) all of the recent turmoil caused by the recent actions of the Georgia Board of Nursing, 2) North Carolina is a compact state, and 3) my sister is a North Carolina resident and would help me relocate if necessary.

In light of the recent compromise by the GA Senate and House, that will now require Excelsior students who are Paramedics to obtain 700 hours of clinicals, will Excelsior College come up with a plan or did they recognize this contingency and have a plan in place for us to accomplish this? If I completed just (1) 12 hour clinical session per week, it would take over a year to obtain the required 700 hours. Does anyone know if North Carolina has a similar requirement? That is where I intend to obtain initial licensure after I pass my CPNE and take NCLEX.
