Galen LVN-RN San Antonio January 2016 start
I have my pre-reqs completed so idk why I don't have the 15 months, but I will surely ask tomorrow because that's my goal also. That's right why have it if it's not offered to students. 18 months is too long to do a bridge program anyway. How many days do you go to school?

Thanks, same to you. I wanted to do the 15 month but according to financial aid I have an 18 month. I will talk to them tomorrow to see how they determined that. Did you have all the pre-res to transfer? Are you doing 15 or 18?

Co-workers mad that you're going to school
I just wanted to know if someone has experienced this. On Monday I found out that I was accepted into Galen's bridge program. Yesterday I put in my 2 weeks notice at my job because I will not be able to do both. My DON, ADON, HR were like "I won't accept this, why are you giving this to us now, this is not a good Christmas present, we need you here." I'm thinking to myself I'm trying to go to school to better myself and have more opportunities. I've worked at my job for 2 and a half years too long. This job was never my stopping point. I told some of my co-workers I'm leaving, and their reaction was also similar. For example, "We need you here, this won't work for me, I know you're going to school but maybe we can work out something so that you can still work here a couple days." I mean I know that I'm a hard worker and all, but I have to further my education and that's that. As long as my family is behind me and supportive that's all that matters. It just seemed very funny to me that I didn't get 1 single congratulations from my co-workers. Thanks for reading just had to vent. I feel better now lol.

LVN job or PCT job??
Hello allnurses, I have a dilemma for you I graduated LVN school in August, and I took boards in October. I started a BSN program in August, and I should graduate in 2013. I'm having a difficult time finding an LVN job as the holidays are here right now. So I wanted to know if while I'm in school I should try a tech position to hopefully get my foot in the door at a hospital, or continue to look for an LVN job probably in a nursing home. I want to gain some experience as an LVN so that I don't feel like I wasted the last year of my life. I'm very optimistic that at the beginning of the year things will work out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Any Vernon College LVN students.. or soon to be students?
***** called me this morning saying that my letter got returned to sender because I had moved. She said that she would send it again today. I wrote my new address on that notepad from orientation, and I updated it with the school. I'm glad that she called and didn't scratch my name off the list. Whoo-hoo I got accepted!!!

Congrats Laytonbi!!! They sent out the letters for the Wichita campus already? I hope I receive my letter tomorrow. I've been checking the mail everyday because at the orientation they said they would be sending them out this week.

To all the mothers: Day Care Advice (long)
I think I can help you out a little bit. I've also been accepted into Midwestern's BSN program, and everyone was right on with the questions to ask. I have a 3 year old daughter, and my daughter is currently in day care. I went down to Wichita Falls before I applied, and a store clerk gave me a phone book. After I found out I was accepted I started going down the list of apartments, head start, and day care programs. Many of them had a waiting list, and I believe only 4 of the day cares had a 6a-6p or 7am-7pm. They don't really have a big selection of choices as the DFW area has it. You're child is only allowed to be at the day care for 10 hours only. I'm going to the new student orientation on May 28 at 9am so at that time I'm going to look around at some day cares also. They said you can just come you don't have to reserve a spot, and your family can come also. My 16 year old nephew is going to come live with me to help me out while I'm in the program. If you have any more question feel free to PM me I would be happy to help you out. Good luck with your bf!

Galen vs SAC (San Antonio, TX)
I'm sorry I can't help you either. It's great that you are a recent LVN graduate, and got accepted into 2 transitional programs! It's cool that the programs didn't require any work experience I'm going to look into Galen when I graduate LVN school. Keep fast-tracking, and good luck with your decision.

Which school is better in Dallas, Texas for LVN? Concorde,Platt, or Dallas Nursing In
Congrats JavaMama98, That's great that you found your first job without any problems. Just the fact that you have your LVN license has been the answer that I've been getting back as far as me bridging over to my RN. So I have gotten all of my answers pretty much answered, and it's nice to know I've been contemplating bridging for a while. I think that I will attend the DNI because they have the better hours so that I could possibly still have some kind of social life after school. I could do my 1 year, get it over with and then start making my $20 an hour. Their is nothing wrong with that.

Universal Health Services School of Vocational Training in Dallas?
Is the Universal Health Services School of Vocational Training approved & accreditated by the Texas Board of Nursing?

Covenant School of Nursing
I think that the letters should come out around mid-June. I hope that we make it also; from reading some of the blogs many say that the school is great, but working for Covenant isn't. I just received my packet for my letters of recommendation so I have to send them back in by 4/20/09. Did you have all of your classes completed? Do you know how many people they accept?

Which school is better in Dallas, Texas for LVN? Concorde,Platt, or Dallas Nursing In
Thank you! You pretty much cleared up a lot of answers that I had questions to. I have all of my pre-requisites completed I was having a hard time getting answers from the counselor about bridging over later. All he was pretty much trying to do was get me to take the pre-admission test which I took already, and to talk to financial aid. We'll see how things go I'm going to take the NET test on Tuesday, and see if I make it to the waitlist for the June class, and if not I guess I'll have to wait till September I believe he said that was the next class. I've applied to about 6 community colleges already for their LVN and RN programs so I'm just waiting for my acceptance letters. I want to go to Concorde, but since he is talking about a waitlist I had to seek other options.

Since you are graduating from Concorde in a few weeks...CONGRATS on all that you've accomplished. I'm thinking about applying to their day program starting in June, and I just have a question about the clinical rotations. The counselor that I talked to I don't think that he has all the answers, but he was telling me that as far as clinicals goes they are not scheduled 2 days in a row. That you don't really know when your clinicals were scheduled at also. I just wanted to know was that true. I'm thinking that they have to at least give you a schedule or something. Since their are 5 levels was every level like 2 and a half months or so? Thanks for your help in advance!!
