  1. Let me make it clear.... my BA was completed in another country, with a GPA 2.3 (much lower than yours) Then I moved to the US, completed all my prereqs (4.0) and 60 AS units (3.93) here. I guess schools didn't count my previous GPA from outside of the US. Anyway, you still have a chance, go for it! Consider CSULB rather than CSULA since it's a 2-year BSN program.
  2. prereq GPA was a 4.0, overall GPA was a 3.932 I took TEAS 2 days after my final exam and wasn't prepared. TEAS (National percentile rank)- Reading 87 , English 58 (I'm an international student), Math 99, Science 62. Hope this helps....
  3. Sorry this is long..... Any suggestion is welcome and appreciated. I'm currently attending Rio Hondo ADN program (started in June). I also got accepted to PCC and CSULA Nursing program. Right now, I'm facing the dilemma of staying at Rio, going to PCC or even going to CSULA for 3 years (I have a BA already). Rio Hondo is close to my house, I got tuition waived and almost finish a 4-unit summer class right now. PCC is 45-50 min away, I am requested to pay out-of-state tuition ($2000+) for the first semester, but it has a good reputation among So-Cali schools. Does anyone know about PCC RN program? Is it worth the money and driving time? Also, is their program more difficult than that at other CCs? Two of my friends got in but didn't like it (failed the first semester). I have been seeking advice... a counselor and a clinical instructor told me that school doesn't matter once you pass the NCLEX. Is that true employers/graduate schools don't prefer one CC over the other as long as you got a license/high GPA? I believe that having a good education is important and I also plan to pursue a MSN later. So I'm trying hard to make a good decision and hope I won't regret afterward. Thanks a lot for reading this. Please, any opinion is helpful!
  4. What if I already have a BA degree? Pursue the ADN then work on the MSN , isn't that better than doing the BS again?
  5. For Fall applicants, the orientation is on Wednesday, Sep. 23. Btw, I decided to go to a CC instead of CSULA since I have a BA already; there will be one more space for the alternatives. Good luck!
  6. Is it true, can you provide more information? Thanks!! I'm facing the same indecision, Rio Hondo Fall 09' vs. CSULA Fall 09'. However, my friend in nursing field suggested going for the 2-year ADN program. He said..... Handling stress for 2 years is easier Getting BSN may take longer than you expect (11 quarters for CSULA + the nursing curriculum is a locked step sequence); You can get the license faster, work and support yourself; There's no big difference in salary; It's not hard to get into a BSN program with ADN plus you don't handle the same stress since you have the license already. Don't know if these are true, I'll keep looking for advice.
  7. Hi patore, I'm going to csula and I will probably attend Rio Hondo's summer school too which starts 6/8. I already refused the offer of PCC's dental hygiene program, hopefully nursing turn out to be the right decision.
  8. Got the letter from CSULA the first week of May while I was out of the country for vacation. My prereq GPA was a 4.0, overall GPA was a 3.932; TEAS- Reading I scored 87 percentile rank, English I only scored 58 percentile rank (I'm an international student). For other schools I applied... Rejected by Cerritos, Citrus and LA county; accepted by Rio Hondo (not lottery), and still waiting for the result from PCC.
