Working with multiple HH companies, how does it work?
So I am a new LVN and recently got hired by a home health agency and have a chance to start at another agency. Now I have only been working for a few days with the first company but I dont really like it because they have me working (and paying) as a CNA doing shift care. But I need income and experience so its ok for now. My question is if I accept the other HH position and work both, do I simply juggle each schedule and tell one company I cant work one day and the other I can work. Is this how HH works? Right now my company will just call me and ask me fif I can take X shift, its ok for now, but eventually I would like some stability and a set schedule, is this something I cant do while working HH? Or is it always wait for a call and see if you will work this week. Seems like right now they have me convering other people's shifts who are taking that day off. And when working two agencies, lets say one pays me much better than the other and I constantly tell the lower paying other company I cant work, will that eventually lead to the lower paying company to stop giving me work?

One year experience, is it law?
Just wondering if anyone knows if its now a law to require one year of experience when working for home health. I went to LVN school about 3 years ago but only got my license recently. Lots of my classmates ended up working with Home Health as their first jobs, but now when I contact those same companies, they need one year experience. Dont know if its law, or there is just an influx of new LVN's and they need to do that. I am in CA

Just took Nclex...
So here is my story. I took the nclex yesterday for the SECOND time. I finishsed school almost 2 years ago. When I finished, there was lots of BS between the school messing up sending transcripts and the board not recieving transcripts. So it took 8 entire months after I finished the LVN program before I was even able to schedule my Nclex. I didnt study and felt like I forgot the material, I took my first Nclex over a year out of school, did about 2 weeks of studying, and averaged 40-50% on my practice tests. I failed with 205 questions. The test was HARD. I was not ready for it at all, I had no idea it would be so specific and so much priority. I took my first nclex in June 2011 and just took my second nclex yesterday. I got laid off in November and after messing around until mid December. I made it a mission to do nothing but study and give it my 100%. After about 2 months of 2-3 hours a day of studying, reading the entire textbook from front to back, doing 100-250 questions a day for the last 3 weeks, and averaging 60-70% on all my practice tests. I felt ready to take the nclex. I finished at 85 questions and the test was SO much different from the first time. Almost no questions on diseases, only one math question, nothing on Eriksons or Maslow. I studied the hell out of everything except the beginning of my textbook which was legal issues and teaching. Well it seemed like I got 30 questions on Legal issues. The legal issues werent really hard, just tricky. The rest of the test I felt like I breezed through it, I was done in about an hour. I checked the Pearson Vue site and.. I got the good popup! Hopefully the popup trick still works. If anyone has any questions about the nclex I would be happy to answer.

LVN CA, Yellow Transcript/Non Graduate?
I recently found out that because about 8 of us in our school could not pass the Hesi exit exam, we are all getting our transcripts sent to Sacramento with a Yellow slip, and we are goign to be considered Non-Graduates of the program. Does anyone have experience with this? Can anyone please give me any information? I am planning on going to a bridge LVN-RN program but will this stop me? Also, will getting a job be affected by this? Do LVN graduates get a form saying they graduated from school X ? Or is a license a license and I dont need to worry.

Las Vegas LVN/LPN's ?
Do LPN's have many jobs out there? Is it mostly LTC? I'm a current LVN student here in CA, and am thinking of moving to Vegas with family, while going for my LVN-RN. Does CSN have a LVN-RN program? What other schools have a bridge to RN ?

Physical exam requirements for school entrance?
Hey guys, just wondering what schools look for in their physical exam requirements. Ive only taken a few entrance exams (LVN programs), and passed, now the next step is show my immunization records and get a physical. What will get me turned down with a physical? I have some immunizations, but probably not all that are required. The last time I took a physical was 4 years ago, and I had a few problems (high cholesterol, increased liver enzymes) and to be honest, I probably am the same, or even worse. So before I commit money to many shots and a physical (I have no insurance, so im guessing ill be spending some $$) what is something that could result in them turning down my phsyical and being denied entrance.
