  1. Thanks, I'll check that out.
  2. I'm creating this new thread for all of us new grads out there who can't get even a phone call from HR. I'm going on six months now, and scared at all the skills and info I'm loosing! PLease help us out by posting any positions you know of at your place of work, and if you work somewhere that has recently hired a new grad, or that just know will hire a new grad. Much thanks.
  3. I realize that your post is alittle old, you probably have an answer by now, but I just wanted to share with you that the entire nursing program there is the same way. They dont play fair, dont play by the rules, and I DID have to take legal action against the program at one point. Good Luck!
  4. I live in Columbus, where we have 23, yes 23 nursing schools! I really hate to say it but I would not recommend anyone going into the nursing profession, RN or LPN anywhere. It's just too risky of a situation right now. I graduated in December, became an RN in January and here we are May 2nd...and I'm still jobless. I became a nurse to work in a hospital. Ideally, my true passion is ER, ICU, Critical Care type areas. It's difficult to explain what it feels like to not "be" a nurse. To not be in a hospital every day ( at least I could do that while I was in school) helping people, learning, and fulfilling my "nursiness". I feel as if I am not a whole person, like the purpose I was created for is being blocked from me. When I look over the posts here, I'm scared. This is nationwide. Not just Columbus, not just Ohio....everywhere. :angryfire
  5. So I'm a new grad--passes boards 2 months ago..and ever since I have been applying, calling, and begging every hospital in the city for a job! We have 22 nursing schools, just in the Columbus. This is as simple as supply and demand. For years all you heard about was the "nursing shortage", so everyone went to school to become a nurse. Now we have soooo many nurses(here at least) that many of them are jobless. I heard someone say they just went down to HR and asked to talk with someone...well I tried that twice and gave up after not making it past the front desk. #1 Where is there a nursing shortage in the US? #2 Advice please???
  6. I just graduated in December, 2008, and I am being told by all central Ohio hospitals that they now require at least a years experience before being considered for a hospital position. Because of this...now all the nursing grads are competing for nursing home and home health positions, leaving those slim pickings as well. It's horrible! I feel sorry for the nurses still in school...there will be NOTHING when they get out.
