TECO LPN 2011
Thanks Humanatarian123 and giarmar, I'm at Valencia and graduating with my Associates in Arts this semester. I actually did most of my classes online which was a good deal. I've applied to UCF for Spring 2011, but considering doing my LPN. It seems as though most of the programs that I've called start July or August 2011. So we'll see what happens, I've called Lake Tech, Orlando Tech, and Teco so far and all of them start around the same time. I'm just waiting for my Associates and Arts degree to post to my transcripts, and I'm heading over to these schools to apply so I don't have to take the TABE, and just to see how I do on the TEAS. Giarmar, keep us posted how the program goes I know your excited. It's an exciting time. You'll do great. Good Luck!

TECO LPN 2011
Hi Humanatarian123, Do you know if Teco has any spots still available for their January 2011 start date? I know you posted back on the 1st, and you were going to take the tabe test for the January start date into the program. I know it's very short notice so I wasn't to sure the availability. Good Luck with starting your pre-reqs at Valencia for their nursing program. I'm just finishing up my AA at Valencia this month. So it's either UCF or LPN program, we'll see! Any input would be great! Thanks so much:)

Herzing or Keiser? - Orlando
Hi Littlemissgator, Sorry, took a minute to get back had to work this weekend. Most of the negatives about either school that I hear about are mainly the price. If you do a search on this site on Herzing or Keiser you'll see mixed reviews. But, ultimately it is a personal descision. Everyones situation is different, I can definitely relate to yours being that you already have been school and have a bachelors already. Why waste any more time with two years of pre-reqs. I actually called Keiser today to speak with one of their reps and she was very nice and personable. She answered all my questions. She said they accept students in May and January and currently are accepting students for the January term. It's a hard decision to make. I could definitely try to get in the January class and until then continue at Valencia for my pre-reqs. I still need to take Micro,API,and APII. These should be done by fall. It's like should I try for a private college where I am able to get in right away or stick it out at the less expensive community college and after I apply have to wait a whole year to start. I know valencia is currently accepting applications for Summer 2011. That seems so far. By the time I finish my prereqs they will probally be accepting applications for Spring 2012. YIKES!! That's seems like along time from now. That's good you feel comfortable with Keiser. Good Luck with your interview tommorow! I know you'll do great...Keep me posted.:)

Herzing or Keiser? - Orlando
Hi littlemissgator, Congrats on possibly starting Keiser! I was in between both of the schools also. I went to Keiser to speak with someone about the program and have to back to take the wonderlic. I went to Herzing and they scheduled me for the information session on March 24. Right now I'm currently taking pre-reqs at Valencia. Trying to decide what the best route to take. When you went to Keiser did you have a good feeling about the school? the people? admission advisors? I know it is more expensive but at least you will be able to get started right away. Do you have any pre-regs to transfer there, or are you going to start from the beginning? Sorry so many questions, I'm kinda in the same situation. I've heard positive and negatives with both schools so it's kind of hard. I can either take the private school direction or wait it out at the community college. Thanks again

LPN programs in Central Florida
I'm starting Orlando tech in January. I did my research on alot of schools in the area. This was the most reasonably priced one. I also looked into Lake Tech. There are also private schools that are more expensive though. There is Cambridge in Longwood and Centura Health on Edgewater Drive. This would be their first Lpn program. Orlando Tech is ok so far no complaints. I think they have programs that start up in Jan, May, and August. But as far you saying that Orlando Tech is "ghetto" (whatever that means) that really should not be an issue as long as you concentrate on your main goal, which is to get through the program, pass the boards, and become an LPN.

Orlando Tech
Yeah, I think that's why also. I just happen to call to ask a question and they told me they were postponing the evening program to August. I also was wondering why it was taking so long for the orientation date. I think they are going to pull a teacher from the full-time classes to the part-time program so they can still have it. Thank goodness, I feel as if I waited so long for this, for them to actually cancel the the evening program until August. If that was the case I would have probally started pre-reqs for the RN program. But thankfully they are still starting the program. They said this is the first time something like this has ever happened.
-
Orlando Tech
Ok ok, the reason I asked was because when I called to ask about the part-time program they said they might cancel the evening program because of the budget. When I called today they said they were still going to have it. So just wondering if you had heard anything also. It's just right around the corner. It feels like it will never come. (LOL)

Orlando Tech
Hi GigiNorma, Did you hear anything about the part-time program at Orlando tech?

Central Florida CNA Classes
Hi Codeda, Did you decide if you were going to go to Orlando tech yet? I was thinking about doing the CNA Inc. also. but will be starting O-tech in January. I think the first 6 weeks they teach cna things. How has it been trying to find a job?
-
Orlando Tech
Thanks, I feel better. I guess I'll keep waiting. Are you excited to start the program?
-
Orlando Tech
Thanks, I didn't know if I was being overly anxious or not. I called last week and I called today. Last week she said she was mailing them off that same week. So I was thinking if that was the case I should have received it by now. Then I called today and she said I should be getting it soon. Do you remember who you spoke with?
-
Orlando Tech
Hi GigiNorma, Did you recieve your orientation letter yet?
-
Orlando Tech
Yeah, same here. It does look like like a high school. I was kind of hesitant in the beginning. The staff was ok nothing to write home about. Everytime I talked to the receptionist of the lpn program she acted like I was bothering her. But in the end I weighed all of my options and did my research on every LPN program in the area and as far as price and convience it was the best option. You turned your paperwork in back in April. Didn't they have a September program starting or was that only for full time?
-
Orlando Tech
Yes, I will be going part-time. Full time program would be nice so it could be done in a year. But the part-time program is more convient. How do you like the school from what you've experienced so far?
-
Orlando Tech
No, not yet. I called maybe a couple of weeks ago and they said they send the letter out in October and orientation is for November. So no I haven't gotten my letter yet. Hopefully soon though.

Anxiety Issues (kinda Long)
Hi all, I started a job at the beginning of the year as a unit secretary on mother-baby at a major hospital in my city. I plan to start the LPN program in January also. I was very happy that I got this job because I had never had in prior experience. Right before my job one of my good friends seven year old daughter passed away in an automobile accident. This hospital is right next to the childrens hospital that she was at. I started working at this hospital and everything was ok then some months into it there was a notice at the nurses station that one of the residents fiance was killed in an automobile accident. I was like ok...wow. Then just recently one of the night nurses that that work on the floor was killed in a accident on vacation. It was on the news and everything. It was very crazy. Anyway here is my problem. I'm there working and I'm looking out the window directly at the hospital my friends daughter was at and start thinking about what she is going through, etc. and my own. And I'm thinking every since I started this job and going to this job it reminds of people dying. I think I had an axiety attack. Everything was find throughout the day I was going on normal. There was an issue with an order that I entered in incorrectly we fixed it and it was fine. Then all of a sudden I was sitting there and I could barely breath. I had to control my breathing, my face started to get really hot, and my hands started to shake. It was bad, I think everything hit me at once. I got up and told the nurse (a good friend of mine) I was going to the back to sit down but when I did I broke down crying. She was very comforting but I just told her I felt overwhelmed not really what was behind the anxiety. My job as a secretary can be kind of stressful sometimes because you need to handle the desk and deal with nurses and , etc. Sometimes when I'm there lately I sitting there and I feel my face start to get hot, my breathing gets crazy, and starts to come from my eyes like I can't take this anymore. My husband knows about the first attack but he doesn't know the root of where it is coming from. This past week was really bad I left there with my head pounding and I broke down in tears when I got to my car. Everytime I'm getting ready to go this job I start feeling very anxious. I'm considering leaving this job if it doesn't get better. I am perfectly fine when I leave and I go home to my family. It's only when I go there where I start freaking out. I am also starting the lpn program in January and just wondering if nursing is for me. I have never experience anxiety or anxiety attacks before I started working at this job. But it's really getting bad I don't want to be there anymore. They have an employee service where you can go talk to someone about anything that is bothering you. I might do that. But other than that I don't know what else do to. Please if you guys have any suggestions I would love it.

Orlando Tech
Codeda, Well the best thing for you to do to find out about there waiting list is to call the practical nursing department. I think the number is 407-317-3741. They are there on Tuesday and Wednesdays. I know as long as you have your paperwork turned in your on the list. I know since its getting close to January they might be full or getting close to getting filling up. I turned mine in back in August. There is also a new school called Centura Institute but they are a private school so they probally are very expensive. There starting a brand new LPN program there. This would be the first one for them.

Orlando Tech
Codeda, My experience with Orlando Tech so far is ok. I passed the tabe and the net and turned in all the medical and dental paper work they need. I want to start in January 2009. They are very ummm.... I wouldn't say cold but you have to really want to do it and no one is going to baby you. The receptionist for the program I find to be very cold and not welcoming. But other than that I quess is ok. I know the afternoon part-time is program is 4 to 9 Monday to Thursday. The only other lpn programs here in Orlando I did my research on and half of them are private which are a arm and leg. SCC you need pre-req's to get in. They only offer the program one time a year in January. So Orlando Tech it is. Anyway, best of luck with your decision and maybe I'll see you in January.

Part time LPN Programs
Hi Kashsmom, I will most likely be starting in January also. Just passed the NET two Thursdays ago and turned in all the required paperwork. Do you know what the next step is? Do you just wait for a letter to come? Also, for the part-time program does it start at 4 or 5. How has your overall experience been with the school? Sorry so many questions, It's sometimes hard to get direct answers when I call the school. Any additional information would be great! I guess were just playing the waiting game now!LOL!:)
