  1. I am a nurse too. I just thought that I would help and let everyone know that the trend is medical school. If you are going to spend a lot of time in college, why not take premed classes, then your butt is covered for nursing classes just in case for some reason one does not get accepted into med school, which depends on GPA to getting accepted into med school. Bang your head on a wall all you want with "just nursing". I understand that this is a nursing site, and I am a nurse just like you. But, nursing is falling by the way side FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!! College is expensive, spend money for medical school...why not????? answer that one without making joke of things that I say.
  2. No, now wait a minute on you, for taking a cheap shot. You are not allowing me to express how I feel and my opinions. You state your opinion but yet, want to judge. No way are you getting by with it. I advised that I was not concerned about my grammatical errors at the time I was expressing. You cheap thing you!!!! Now, here is what I want people to understand. Nursing jobs are hard to find, and everybody can feel it. And not just doctor offices and whatever you mentioned are the only ones that are cutting RN positions. Honey, the hospitals are too. Look, you can stay in your state of denial all you want; I don't give a rats butt* But, telling someone to go be an LPN is the poorest educational advice. No one is hiring LPN's. The LPN programs in Lexington KY will take the LPN classes to the hospitals for clinicals.........BUT GUESS WHAT??????..........ALL THE POOR LPN STUDENTS WILL STAND AROUND AND TAKE NOTICE THAT THESE HOSPITALS DO NOT HIRE LPN'S. SO THERE YOU KNOW IT ALL!!!!! All the RN's are going for NP degrees, now you tell me, how close is that to being a doctor? Go ahead, I want to hear you. And the burn out rate for an RN, I do not care if you do go to nursing school BECAUSE YOU WANT TO HELP PEOPLE. Yes, going to med school is a challenge, being a nurse is not so much. I would venture to say that you wish not to take any more science classes, but taking care of someone even as a registered nurse is knowing all the science of the human body. You would be SHOCKED at how much better it is being a doctor instead of a nurse. I guess you are just a limited pea brain. I will participate in this forum, I am a nurse just like you. And, I repeat, take all the science classes necessary for medical school. Being a doctor is a wave of the future, I guess I just realize this and am a mature person compared to others. This is reality and it is no bad for you to realize and acknowledge that. I can be a doctor and take care of people too, just like you can as a nurse. But, I will tell you one thing, a lot of care is being taught to the patient to do self care directed by the doctor...period. I will tell you one thing, you should always as a nurse be doing research, well that is if you have a BA in nursing, an associate well they are not taught the extent of a BA on research....or do you even know what I am talking about? or this over your head too? I do not have time for your put downs, do you try to embarrass your patients too? There are some people that just do not get it. My husband is an attorney, my brother and mother is a doctor, my sister a nurse, another sister who is the DON of a large hospital, and think you have no ambition for the being the best in life Sorry you feel that way:crying2: But people choose to limit themselves in society who knows why. I really do not care. You may thing about switching from being a Nurse and maybe an English teacher . I would like to read some of your nurses notes.....wonder how grammatically they are . Never thought of that did you? Sorry, you can get mad all you want....but if you cannot stand the heat...get out of the kitchen And, no do not go from LPN to RN. Go from LPN to medical school, show those RN's. You can be a doctor instead, if you definitely want to apply yourself, it not, then maybe not will be smart enough I carry a 3.92 GPA, and that is why I made it into medical school. What is your GPA? That is what I thought so sorry, so sorry. But, there are a lot of people who can just barely handle being a nurse, that all they are capable of:cool:, and that is fine, doctors need nurses to tell what to do:yeah:
  3. yes, it is possible from ADN to BSN. Indiana University. Many of my instructors did this, and they are GREAT RN's. Work experience? Just make good grades, and do some kind of volunteer work in say like a hospital you have in mind to work at.....or......while getting your BSN....work for a hospital with your ADN.....and then apply for a position like DRG's a 4 year RN position, and they make damn good money!!!!
  4. hey, look everyone, i just went to a medical clinic in Lexington ky, and they have replaced the Rn clinic nurses with CMT--Certified Medical Technicians, not nursing assistance, not LPN's CMT's. I asked the CMT, where where the nurses, and she replied we only have one RN that works, the rest of use as MLT, and the RN in the supervisor. So, there you have it, the Kentucky Clinic in Lexington KY, does not hire RN's. I had never been so insulted in all my life, as a nurse myself, having to answer to a CMT, who does not have the same education as I do. What the hell is going on? Does anyone know? Here in Lexington, KY, why CMT are being hired instead of RN's in the doctor offices? Good lord the little girl that took my pulse was wrong, and i confronted her and the RN about it and requested that they immediately change the wrong documentation of my pulse, she put down 72, my pulse is never 72, i knew there was something wrong. hey, i know, i do not feel like watching my grammar at all tonight, i am studying for a hugh physics exam......will be starting medical school this fall....no.....not UK either......WVU medical school....yea!!!!!!!!!! but, ya know, this is exactly why i did not go on further to be a RN. Shoot, as an LPN i learned just as much as an RN, and applied a lot of stuff I learned in class in the clinical setting. I know some RN's that have never started an IV during their whole training as an RN....that is successfully start an IV. So, I run, bike, swim / sharks yes with sharks......walk, eat healthy, see my doctor reguarly, live as healthy as I can, no red meat, no fat, no sugar POP!!! no alcohol, no smoking, take vitamins etc.....son is in medical school to eye surgeon 23 and a good child he turned out to be........is in residency now with a surgeon in WV.....anyway.....i have been a B on here at times.....but I just get so mad when society tries to downplay educated people and replace them with these people who have no business dealing with other peoples lives like people I have to ask to wash their hands IN FRONT OF ME AS A PATIENT / A NURSE PATIENT ..... to someone who has less education than me who is call a Certified Medical Assistant? I wonder people....I just refuse to spend more money for nursing......for an assoc, for a BA or for a masters and yes i even refuse to pay another dime to a university for nursing degrees....it is time you come and join me and be the doctor!!!!!!! RN's are getting replaced......go for the big one!!!! people....it will pay off in time, and besides you can have your own practice, just make good grades like i do and you will do good.
  5. Well, in KY, LPN's do not make good money. I just went shopping yesterday for uniforms, and the clerk told me that California has completey done away with all their LPN's. And ususally, in California is where all the trends are set. It will eventually work its way east. My sister is an RN , and she told me that she has been hearing that LPN were going to be done away with, and here it is almost 20 years later, and LPN's are still hired in just about every medical settning there is. She said to back then there was a strong rumor that they were going to make the 2 year RN's get their BA. degrees. I remember that......I was a station clerk, and I remember the hospital educational nurse going around and spot checking RN on the floors to see if they could do basic college algebra, and a lot of the 2 year RN's could not work a basic algebra problem. I may be just going for my LPN, so that I can work, and financially facilitate myself throuhg RN and then med school, but at least I got A's all my math, yes that include college Algebra, I also have two years of chemistry, (four year level for my BA, and yes, I also have Statistics......I have well over the and more education than most two year RN's would ever dream of having. I think that some LPN's are smarter that RN's; 2 year RN. Where I am going through LPN schooling, I will merge with the RN class, my second year. I mainly chose this route because the LPN instgructors are EXCELLENT!!! And rumor has it that when the LPN students merge with the RN class to take the last 3 classes, that everybody can tell who the LPN's are becuase they know their stuff. ANd yes there is a facility in Morgantown that pays their LPN's $20 hr. i am going to work there when I graduate. Me, and a couple other LPN's are going to take the online BA course together. We will have BA's while all the others only have a 2 year. I know girls, who have been 2 yr RN for decades, and choose to stay as 2 year RN. But with a BA......make more money, and the BA degrees get picked first. Besides, I am planning on going to medical school. I only have 4 more classes to take for my BA in science, and I will take my MCAT.
  6. In a LTC facility, LPN's are starting out at $20 per hour. In KY, LPN's make nothing. So, I am moving to WV for better pay as an LPN. Then I will do the LPN to BSN online. In WV, I will be joining other LPN's that will be working at the facility, and we are all going to the online LPN to BSN together. Also, I could have went to RN (got accepted into 2 different RN programs) but I choose LPN because, I the LPN program that I will be in, are taught by wonderful experienced RN with master degrees. If I choose to, after taking the LPN class, I can merge with the RN and graduate with them. Either way it is a win win situaiton as far as graduating as a RN. I just wanted to take the opportunity of the LPN program paying for my uniforms etc.... I think that is pretty sweet. And I have been told by more than one person, that when the LPN class merges with the Rn class ( the LPN's only having 3 classes to take) the LPN are extremely well prepared, and the RN instructors and RN nursing students know this. There are a lot of RN students that fail out, but yet there are a lot of smart LPN. I for one have more chemistry than most 2 year RN's. I just completed my Statistics class, and for my online LPN to BSN, I have that class, and all my chemistry completed already. So, as for the LPN instructors they are really great and prepare the LPN extremely well. The college that I will be attending in KY, the 2yr RN program will soon make it mandatory for nursing to take Chemistry. That I found out from a very reliable source. I think that to graduate with a 2 yr RN, they should take chemistry. Chemistry has a lot to do with nursing. OH YEA!!!!!!:typing
