  1. I just moved from Alaska last month..unfortunately I missed the best part of the year! I lived in Fairbanks and it is pretty nice area. I wouldn't say it is much of a family area though. I have a daughter and was never really sure what to do up there besides play mini golf or go bowling. It is good if your an outdoors person but my daughter is too young for that. As far as shopping they have a few stores but no mall you have to drive 6 hours to anchorage for that. Besides that I absolutely loved it and can't wait to get back up there next year after my husband gets back from his deployment. As far as cost of living I don't think it is too much different than other places at least in Fairbanks. Our one bedroom unfurnished apartment was 950 a month and gas was 4.50 gallon reg when I moved in July. But I think you will love the place. They is a hospital in town and also Bassett Army hospital on post if you wanna go that way. I'm sure there is something you could find it you really want. Hope this helps some.
  2. Hi, I dont know too much about bush nursing but I just moved from alaska to ga last month and just wanted to let you know that there is no online RN program that I know of because I checked. The only thing I could find is a program through Excelsior University if you want to check into that. Another thing you do get funds from the oil reserves after living there for a year if you plan on staying in Alaska. In 2007 it was $1,600 I believe. I hope this helps some.
