why so little info on Monroe College lpn program?
I took the test in October for entrance in January. On the NLN, I got an overall 118 Composite Score/79%. On the TEAS, score are a little different. I got a 79.4% (Reading 92.5%, Math 75.6%, Science 63.3%, English 81.8%). Hope this helps!

Yes, I do! Do you suggest anything other then the NLN-RN study guide?

I just sent in my application today! I'm taking the NLN exam on April 8th. I pray that I get in! I didn't know about the exam requirements until I read this thread... how did you guys find out? I took the NLN-LPN in October for another school (which I got accepted to) & got an overall 118 Composite Score. I can only imagine that the NLN-RN is much harder, so I'm going to have to study hard for the next 2 weeks! Science is my weakest subject but I kick ass in Math & Reading! I can only hope for an acceptance & wish you all the same fate!

They do pick the student with the highest score based on national results (not sure what this entails). To be clear, here is the percentile based on how many questions I got right and what they say I scored nationally: - Reading: 32 out of 40 - 80% - National Score: 56% - Math: 45 out of 50 - 90% - National ScoreL 74% - Language: 46 out of 60 - 76% - National Score: 37% The 37% is why I didn't make into the program this year. So you really have to do well, not just get 40% of the questions right. Wish I would have known that before I took the test. Hope this helps.

It more difficult then the CNET, I'll tell you that much. I'm beginning to realized that Nursing School are just so competitive that they grade you base on how everyone else did in your group and/or nationally. It has a reading, science, language and math section. I use the NLN and TEAS guide to study for about a month. I thought that CNET would be a straight shot because I thought it was your overall grade that counted. I'm going to apply to RN school now. Forget the LPN. I don't want to go to Jersey to completed an LPN program and I'm not waiting another year.

I just called C-Net & got the information that we are graded on a national average. Example: Although I got 45 out of 50 questions correct in the Math section (90%), giving me a 74% overall. Basically, 26% of the national population did better then me. Same applies for the remainding parts. An additional FYI: I also asked if any other pre-nursing exam, like NLN and/or TEAS(I got 79% on both) can be applied, which I took in October, and was told not for the Board of Education program.

Straight to RN Program or LPN?
I'm pondering whether I should continue to search for an accelerate LPN program in NY/NJ or if I should go straight into an RN Program. I have a B.S. degree in an unrelated field. I want to make sure I receive the best out of my nursing education. I'm sure many you had/have this decision to make. Please let me know of your experiences and how you're reaching/reached your decision. Thank you alll! Many blessing!

MsAmbitious2336, I take my test today and I received my test material right after the New Year. I mailed my paperwork mid-December. I ordered the Practice Test on the same form that I registered for the exam. Looks like I'm in the first round of tests because I didn't expect it so early but I'm excited! Good Luck! why so little info on Monroe College lpn program?
I've found a lot of information the program through this site, honestly. Did you send in your entrance exam fee? The deadline is tomorrow. I ordered Test Form J with to study for the exam. I've heard mixed reviews of the program but honestly, when you are determined and motivated there will be nothing stopping you. I'm undergoing a career change and looking forward to the change, whether I get into this program or not. In any case, I wish you the best of luck & please keep me posted on your progress through the process. Check out this link: https://allnurses.com/new-york-nurses/mid-manhattan-brooklyn-212728.html Also, got a bit of info from the company that runs the program: http://www.cnetnurse.com/home.html

why so little info on Monroe College lpn program?
The deadline for the other program is January 16, 2009 to begin sometime in September. You would take the CNET test between February & May. If you do well. They will invite you back to take the TABE test and for an interview. I felt the same way about Monroe. I did not want to pass up the opportunity. If you do not have children/family and can afford to take on the loans - Go for it! I hear that after the 11 month, if you go the RN program, the schedule is much more flexible that you can have a job & go to school. I wish you all the luck in world with the program. Let me know how you fair with it. Take care!

why so little info on Monroe College lpn program?
I did get accepted. However, I realized I wasn't going to be able to survive the through the year by taking out loans to pay for the entire program (apparently, financial aid is not an option if you already have a 4-year degree). It simply was not in the best interested of my family for me to put us in so much debt. I've already applied for the Mid-Manhattan Learning Center Program, which is only $2300 and begin in the Fall. Here is the link, if you are interested: http://www.cnetnurse.com/pre_pro_testing/nyc_doe_2005.html Thank you for asking and if you have any questions about the process at Monroe, let me know. I know they have a testing cycle coming up in the spring.

Elizabeth, I did call them today and thankfully they picked up phone and gave me your same response. I really appreciate you taking the time to response as I was on the verge of disappointment. How is the Brooklyn program treating you? I would do Brooklyn but it's all too far from the Bronx, so the Manhattan it is for me. I will be sending in my application in this week for the September, 2009. Yay! So excited!

Is this program open to anyone or is it really for low-income students? I'm currently an Accountant in Manhattan looking to switch my career to Nursing. I have had this program on my radar for months now & this is the first time I'm hearing about the income guidelines. I was accepted into the Monroe LPN program but decided not to attend because I would have to be $20k in debt. If anyone have any information about the income required for this program, please let me know.
