  1. Oh, to completely answer the tuition question it was $10-15k after her financial aid. I believe my sister's gpa was around a 3.2. She had As and Bs on all her science courses. So you're 3.4 should be good to get in.
  2. I think annually my sister's tuition for drexel is around $10-15k. It varies but it's about that much. She commutes so no housing cost and books depends on what's required for each class. Getting used books help a lot.
  3. Hi Finally my Time, I checked with my sister and she can't really recall, but she said she spent around $160-200 on textbooks, most of them were used and I believe she didn't get every book that was required. In regards to uniforms (I believe she said 1 set of navy/blue uniforms, 1 set of yellow uniforms, a lab coat, name tag, the Drexel BSN patch, etc), she spent about $121. She had to get it from some uniform place that drexel sent her to. She also had to get a pair of white shoes/sneakers since she didn't own any all white ones. I think that's all her expenses were in the first quarter. Oh yeah, she had the $1100 something she needed for the health insurance but that was added to the tuition. She still has most of the books she purchased for first quarter, so let me know if you're ever interested in purchasing any. :)
  4. Hi Lulu222, Wow, good guess! When I told Lisa that there was someone on the thread that was possibly in her class, she was trying to figure out who you were. lol, so I guess the big question is, who are you? :-P What's your name? But yeah, what a coincidence. Who would have thought. No, I'm not in nursing school. I'm thinking of going back to school for it though, not sure when but within the next few years possibly.
  5. Thanks, HiddenCat! You have been very helpful. I guess I'll wait until next week to see how the class goes. I'm taking Patho, Mental Health, Health Promotion, and Genetics. I hope it's nothing like Pharm, and Adult. Then again I have Pharm II and Adult II in the summer.. eek..
  6. Hi LULU222, Did you just finish your 2nd quarter in the Drexel Nursing co-op (where one would have taken Pharm I and Adult I)? My sister is in the program and she just completed the 2nd quarter. I believe she had Yost for Pharm and Barrett for Adult. I thought I read in this thread that you had clinicals at Kennedy. So did my sister. She had it on Thursday AM. I wonder if you guys know each other. :) Hope you did well this past quarter!
  7. Hi HiddenCat, Thanks for the response! Interesting, I didn't know that Mental Health and Patho wasn't taught in the ACE program. I am in the co-op program and just finish the 2nd quater, which consist of Adult I, Pharm I, and Nutrition 2. I have say this quarter was hard, but compared to those in the ACE program, it must have been difficult to juggle everything. Thanks for the info on Health Promotion. I guess I didn't think too much of it consider it's a NURS 102 compared to the other two. Do you have any advice in regards to Health Promotion? Was it a hard class? Thanks!
  8. hi, i just have a quick question in regards to book list for mental health, pathophysiology, and health promotion. would you recommend getting the books for these three classes? health promotion (nurs 102) 1) medical terminology: a short course (chabner) - did you use these? 2) health promotino throughout the life span (edelman) - did you use this? mental health (nurs 308) 1) essential of psych. mental health (required book) 2) review and rationale book - did you find it helpful? as this was an optional book. patho (nurs 339) essential of patho (required) i'm more concern with the health promotion books as the class seems like a med. term class compared to patho and mental health. also, if anyone is selling these books, please let me know. i may be interested in buying.. :) thanks everyone!!
  9. Hi, Sorry for late reply. It seems that you got your responses in the other thread. I hope current students were able to help you out. Basically what lulu said in the other thread is correct. My sister agreed with it when she read her response. Just wanted to add incase you were still curious. My sister transferred from a community college as well (DCCC). She basically had most of her pre-req already but they basically give you like a spreedsheet with what your schedule will be like each quarter. Basically, everything is planned out for you. Minus the pre-req's which you would complete during your free elective. She's about to complete her 2nd quarter and from what I can tell she struggled in it, as did a lot of people in her class and the other class (they split the group into two groups). Pharmacology class is do-able, but apparently the Adult I course is another story. There is a test called "MedMath" that is either a pass/fail, and if you don't pass after 2 attempts, you're basically taken out of the class and would have to re-take the class again when it is offered. I believe she is only taking 3 courses this quarter. Might not sound a lot, but Adult I and Pharmacology are tough and I believe one of them is 6 credits. I'm thinking her transition from CC to Drexel was a bit tough as their teaching and testing styles are different. But that can be expected. Also, she isn't use to exams that ask you to apply the information you studied versus one that is straightforward. Hope that helps.
  10. Hi Finally my Time, My sister is actually the one who started the Drexel BSN program this past Fall 2009. From what I can tell, the classes don't seem that bad as long as you keep up with your studies. She struggled a little bit the first quarter but ended up with great marks. This 2nd quarter, she seems to be doing ok. Her main courses are Adult and Pharmacology. She says Adult is a lot harder than Pharmacology. Clinicals aren't bad. It really depends on where you end up. Last quarter she was at Einstein and this quarter she's in NJ. Commute can be an issue sometimes but people tend to carpool. Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll ask her for you. Are you applying for the Fall 2010 school year?
  11. Hi, I'm just wondering, does anyone know if the deadline for transfer students into the Drexel University Nursing Program for Fall 2009 is? Not the accelerated/ACE program, but just the regular undergraduate transfer application. Thanks!
  12. I didn't get a chance to apply for Fall 2009, but plan to do it for Fall 2010. I hear their admission policy may change and that the NET will probably no longer be used. So, I guess I'll just have to wait and see as the NET was the reason I wasn't able to apply. (got a 67 in reading).. But good luck! I hope you guys hear some great news soon!
  13. Hi JM24007, That's a really good questions about the 2nd NET test you took on whether it will count, or would they look at your first score instead. Your best bet woud be to contact Eli Johnson at DCCC and see if he can answer it for you. I'm curious as well so once you find out, please do share. I'm sure a lot of people are wondering the same thing. That's good to hear about DCCC changing it's admission policy for the following year. I'm planning to apply in 2010 as the NET was one of the reasons I didn't apply for 2009. Good Luck!
  14. Thanks, emilysmom, RN! I will check out Brandywine School of Nursing but I think they're NET testing dates are over for the year. I couldn't find out any dates coming up for it on thier website. I hear Thomas Jefferson has one next month, so I may try it there.
  15. Thanks for yor help, NewGN88. I've always wondered how online work would compare to doing it the traditional classroom way when it came to nursing. Was it hard to comprehend the materials since you were teaching it to yourself basically? What type of nursing degree do you get from SRMC? Is it an associate? Have you taken your boards?
  16. I found out a test date at Thomas Jefferson University in Phila next month. So I might try that one out. But will check out Brandywine and Phoenixville. Brandywine testing dates for 2008 seem to have past, so I don't know if they are going to have any more. Have you taken the NET at either Phoenixville or Brandywine? Are you currently in nursing school? Thanks for your help!
  17. Thanks! Would you be able to tell me more information like the website for Brandywine and Phoenixville where I can find out how to register for the NET there? I'm not familiar with the area but heard of them. Are they colleges like DCCC where you go to the location and register for the NET and take it there?
  18. Hi. Does anyone know of any places that you can go and register to take the NET besides the one at DCCC (Delaware County Community College) in the Philadelphia or South east part of Pennsylvania? I'm trying to see if I can find other testing facilities besides DCCC. Thank you!
  19. Few more hours before the test, and I'm getting nervous. I tried the online practice from ERI and didn't do so well on it. To think I was doing good on the paper practice exams and not the practice exam from the people who wrote the test. Oh boy.. it's going to be a tough day.. I hope I get the Microorganism, Day/Night People and ear questions. I'm pretty sure I will cause it seems like everyone who took the test again got the same test. I hope so. :T
  20. Thanks, 2bNurseLove419!! I think you gave some REALLY good advice. I'm going to have to keep an eye out... but I really didn't know that they make 3 false statements, and only 1 true one. When I took the test, I always thought they were all true too, but only 1 was MORE right than the others. Thanks for the assurance about the practice test. I thought I was going nuts. I'm already scared of opening the envelope after the test to see how I did cause when I took the test the first time, I was in a daze while driving home after I saw my score. Hopefully, tomorrow will be different.. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP! I don't know if I could have prepared more for it without your help. :rcgtku: You're :nmbrn:!
  21. hey 2bnurselove419, thanks for the advice! i'm one of those people that tend to over-think things, especially on an exam. i'm one of those people that second guess themselves after picking an answer. that's what i'm afraid of when i take the net. so you're advice was helpful, now if only i can follow it to a "t" tomorrow. i just tried out this practice test you posted and i got to say that i didn't do so good on it. it seem a lot harder than the other practice test that i've tried. i didn't think the real net exam was this hard. did you have trouble with the questions on this practice test? with the other ones, i was able to score pretty high with very little time left over, but with this one, i ended up going over by a lot and still only get about 50% of the questions right. i don't remember if the actually net test was this hard, cause if it is i'm starting a bit worried.
  22. For the reading comprehension, which reading passage did you thought was hard and struggled with. Was it the History of Microorganism, Nocturnal/Diurnal (Night/Day people), or the anatomy of the ear? I didn't complete the test last time, so I wanted to know if the ear passage was hard compared to the others. Also, when it comes to inference and predicting outcome questions.. how do you attack those? Do you read the question and just skim the paragraph? I've been struggling with those. Thanks for your help! :)
  23. I've heard people saw they've scored in the lower 80s, as well as others in their class and they made it into the day program. It's pretty nerve-wreaking for you now, huh, to have to wait? But congrats on getting a composite of 83! I'm taking the test on Wed. and I'm getting pretty nervous. Still a little iffy on the topics and timing is somewhat of an issue still. Last time I only got to like 1-2 questions on the ear. In your opinion, was the anatomy of the ear passage harder than the microorganism one? I zoomed through the day/night people one. I struggled with the micro one and didn't even go beyond 1-2 questions on the ear. Any advice on how to attack the micro and ear passage? I've been reading the questions (not answers), then skimming the passage for key words? Is that what you did? Cause when I do that, I think I suffer on inference and predicting outcome questions.
  24. Good Luck on the test on Wednesday!! Don't stress, you'll do great! :up:Let us know how it turns out. My test is not until next week, but I'll pray for you..
  25. TiffTiff456, Wow! Those are such good scores. That's great. :yeah:I hear a few people got a 92 composite that applied to the 2008 program and they got in the night program, so I'm sure you'll get in. Are you applying to the day or night program at Chester County? GOOD LUCK!! Besides the NET study guide did you use anything else to help boost your reading comprehension scores? Like did you read other articles to brush up on comprehension/speed or did you have other practice NET test?
