adn program at santa ana college
Yikes, my points only add up to 26 points (darn Micro, and it has only been 2 years since I've taken that class)! I'm glad that the appointment with a counselor is no longer necessary - less things for me to do. And it's unfortunate to hear that there are people who have been waiting for 4-5 years to enter a nursing program! I might as well add in my name to SA's wait-list and join the waiting club. Meanwhile, I'll save up some money and think of ways to be productive with my free time. Apgar10, please let me know what number you get, hopefully you'll receive a good number :heartbeat

adn program at santa ana college
Aw I was hoping to hear a different answer! :chuckle I should've applied to Santa Ana sooner, but late is better than nothing..How long have you been waiting? My wait is going on to a year if I count the months before spring '09. The worst thing about waiting is that it feels like my life has been put on hold while others around me are doing their thing but I'm 100% the wait is going to be worth it! Can't wait to become a RN!

adn program at santa ana college
Hi everyone! Is the wait for the Santa Ana ADN program really at least 2 to 2.5 years?! I've been reading so many great things about Santa Ana here and would love to attend that school's program, but the wait is very discouraging. If I do put my name on the wait-list, is it a guarantee that I'll enter the program once a spot is available? Are their pre-reqs English, Micro, Anat., and Phys. and it is when I'm done with those classes that I'm able to meet with a counselor to be waitlisted? If you are currently a student at their program or have graduated from there, how long was your wait? I wanna go to Santa Ana...........F.Y.I. my other choice is Golden West (I was rejected last time I applied to GW). BTW, is the orientation at SA mandatory? Thank you!

Compton college has low passing rates. should i be worried?
number of ppl who took the nclex test, percentage of ppl that passed. these numbers are from the board of registered nursing site: 18 72.22%, 20 35.00%, 19 42.11%, 17 52.94%, 34 85.29% i want to apply to this school, but their passing rates are awfully low and im wondering if it's bc they have a poor nursing program. if i graduate from this school, will i be able to pass the nclex test? will i be ready to properly function as a nurse? why the heck are their numbers so low? :stone

thank you!! so what you're saying is that i dont have to worry about walking to my car, whether it be in the morning or at night, right? i hope i can get into harbor right away; i need to get into a nursing program asap (im sure im not the only one :chuckle). how do you get to harbor from oc knott's berry farm area? all i know is that i need to take the 91w freeway and the rest is a blur. does 91w freeway turn into something else? how do i get back home? LOL. im really bad with directions so havent ventured out far on the freeways and is torrance far from wilmington? are there any other sites that i have to travel to for clinicals? if i do gain admission to the harbor nursing program, im afraid gas is not going to be cheap :zzzzz

long beach city college and other college q's
are you doing the lvn to rn route? and what do u mean by "they tested at least 60-100 on the TEAS and there are only 12 spots"? i thought it doesnt matter what u score on your TEAS as long as u make the passing score. anyways, sorry that had to happen to you

I'm planning on applying to Harbor which is in Wilmington and was wondering is this really is a scary neighborhood. I've read posts here of having cars being broken into and some have told me that I would not want to live there (which I won't be doing). is it dangerous to walk to your car by your self after school or am i overreacting? i know that Harbor has an excellent nursing program and I should be thankful if I do get into a program somewhere, but I'm still worried.

long beach city college and other college q's
im not sure if they do, but it wasn't fair of them to get your hopes up like that. what if you had moved, quit your job, etc to accommodate your starting of the nursing program? if i were you, i would go in and talk to them. dont you want to know why they took away your spot like that?

did you call them about it? they shouldve guaranteed a place for you for the next semester. are you still trying to get into a program or are you already in?

do i have a shot with these grades? and those familiar with lbcc, pls read :)
i cant retake micro bc it hasnt been 5 yrs since ive taken it and hopefully ill be in a nursing program before im able to retake the class again Kitty_Kat can i ask what your science gpa was? is mine 3.0 since i received an a, b, and c? im two classes away from finishing up my general ed; ill be done with it by the end of this fall

thanks you for all the thoughtful responses :redpinkhe the schools i have in mind right now are golden west in huntington beach and harbor in la (im going to commute and cough up the gas money or move to la with my family) and they both do lottery. ive pretty much made up my mind about lbcc; im not going to apply there. i should apply to one or two other schools but it was not part of my plan until i read the responses here and hopefully there's still time for me to meet the deadlines. what im worried about is that i dont drive on the freeways (except for short distances) and have a horrible sense of direction; i cant imagine driving all the way to la or anywhere far on my own! *headache* Grumpygs congrats on your acceptance! you must be thrilled! i should look into the lvn option. if i do get into a lvn program and finish, would that boost my chance of receiving an acceptance letter from an adn program?

list of adn college programs in oc
than you i wish my gpa was competitive enough but it's not so im actually glad that there are lottery system based schools. ive made some poor academic choices when i entered college right after high school and im thankful that there's place for me at a nursing school

hello! im a student residing in oc first of all, i have some q's about long beach city college. do you have to have competitive gpa to even dream of entering lbcc's nursing program? i read that they choose students based on their gpa's..is this true? do they keep a waitlist and how do their waitlist work? obviously i havent been to their info meeting yet, i have to go later this month, and whether i go or not hugely depends on the answers i get on this thread. my overall gpa is 3.2 and have a, b, c, a in anatomy, physiology, micro, and english, respectively. honestly speaking, do i have a chance at schools that do not use the lottery system and take grades into consideration? are schools w/ lottery system my only options? thanks for reading :heartbeat

list of adn college programs in oc
im looking for more schools to apply and although i thought about it, going to school that's in la is too difficult because of the distance. can someone help me find a list of community colleges that offer adn programs in oc? and since youre already here, and if you are currently in an adn program or have graduated recently, how long did it take for you to receive an acceptance letter and what school was it from? thanks!

long beach city college and other college q's
thanks for the replies! the reason why im not considering cypress or cerritos has nothing to do with the schools. i dont have anything against those schools :) i actually applied at cypress last semester but was rejected bc my grades werent good enough. does lbcc take gpa into consideration when picking students? how many students do they accept each semester? yes ive heard about the lbcc's information requirement..i have still yet to take care of that (ive been told that you can test out of a class so i can get it taken care of before application is due), the reading test, and info session, and have to meet with a counselor to have my application checked off. i shouldve started on them sooner, but had things going on in my life that prevented me from doing so. i was not accepted by gwc simply bc my name was not chosen in the lottery. i guess i was unlucky. Apgar10 when did u apply at santa ana? i just dont think i have a shot at all with any schools that take gpa into consideration. my gpa is not competitive enough so why waste the money/time? i feel like the only options for me are schools w/lottery system

long beach city college and other college q's
hi everyone! ive been a reader and have decided to make an acct to ask some q's :) i live in oc (knotts berry farm oc) and am done with pre-reqs and will be done with gen. ed classes by the end of this fall, and am currently in the process of applying to 2 year community college adn programs. my overall gpa is 3.2 or 3.3 and received an a in anatomy, b in physiology, c in micro, and an a in english. should i even consider lbcc since they pick their students based on grades when the number of ppl applying exceeds the number of spots available? the other choices for me are golden west and la harbor (they pick by lottery and i believe there is no wait-list for harbor). ive been rejected by gw once already. im not sure if i should even bother with santa ana bc the counselor told me that no one has a chance of getting in (unless youre already on the wait-list) for 2 or 2.5 yrs. and im not gonna apply to cypress or cerritos (dont ask).
