  1. Thanx to everyone for their congrats! I really appreciate them! Now to get my license number and get to work!!!! But that'll take time I hear!
  2. Thanx! Now we worry for you! Which Im, sure we don't beed to!!!
  3. (btw-- how are you meeting for an RN-BSN program if you are now an LPN (not an RN)?) Thanc for the congrats! I saw some links on here for distance learing and inquired. Indianan University does all the class stuff online. I just need to see what prereqs I have to worry about. I also have to do clinical time. I'm just meeting tonite to get the info about their program. I wanted to do my RN before, but the schools in my area had a long waiting list. And wanted no working while in their program. Wasn't an option. We have 3 kids to support. The one hospital that worked with the private school had a shorter list, but you had to commit to the hospital for 4 years. We knew we wanted to move south, so the part time LPN was perfect. I could work and go to school. I'll put up a gen info post when I get the details.
  4. Thank you. I needed that!!
  5. well, i am usually a very patient person. u have to be to be a nurse, right?! but my name hadn't shown up at 6 am today on the bon site, so i paid for the quick results. i took my boards on friday the 15th at 8 am. i have spent so much time fretting & worrying. i have lost countless hours of sleep. i have tried to kinda put it aside and throw myself into my house. getting it back in order. well, at 3 am today, i decided when hubby gets up i am going to pay and get the quick results! so i punched in all the info and..... i passed!!!!! let me say it again!! i passed!!!!! i mademy hubby read the screen. i couldn't even look!!! i cried all over his work shirt. poor guy. he carpools with another dude too! lol i thought for sure i had failed it. i've been out of school for over a year. i felt like i didn't know any of the right answers! felt like i was going to be the only one in my class to fail. (by the time we graduated, there was like 9 out of 30 of us!!) so, i'm proud to say, i am officially a (lpn) and can meet with the advisor on thursday for indiana state distance learning rn-bsn program and know i have an lpn license!! thanx to all who supported me and best wishes to all taking their boards soon!! butterflybee... this means you! lol beautiful day on the beach ahead of me!!!!
  6. thanx butterfly! i need hugs! (we just moved to nc and all our family is in ny, tx and va.) so nobody to hug but my kids & hubby...lol:heartbeat i am still going to keep moving forward with my plans for rn. i just can't actually enter my distance learning program w/out my license. soooo, if i did fail, i'll be doing suzanne's plan and getting right back on that horse! i wonder if i'd have had a different review book if i woulda done differently?? i had the incredibly easy one which i was told was a good one. there weren't any of the saunders ones when i went to the book stores. :hngon: i'll just keep hangin in there till i get results! i know on pearsonvue it says results ready to send...lol i'm gonna try to relax and chill for a few days. it'll be rough though! :onbch:
  7. i just got home from taking my nclexpn. i feel awful! sick, ballllh.... it may as well have been written in martian! i felt like i didn't understand what they wanted from me! i had a 93% chance according to ati of passing the first time, but that was taken in may of '07! i've been reviewing & studying all along, but was it all for not?? i feel like i got too many wrong. shut me off somewehere around 112! i don't even know what number i was on! how observant am i???? last number i remember was 109. last one was about a vasectomy. i just looked it up & from what i can tell, i did get it right! i feel like alot of drugs we looked at, but didn't discuss were on there. and some of it wasn't even what we did talk about. i feel frustrated. guess i wasn't ready. i won't know till next week. and then i left my att there. aaack! i forgot it in the locker. what a day!
  8. Thank you! Now I need to go look that up! With my luck, it'll show up on my boards...LOL
  9. i keep seeing dic in threads and posts. alot in the fact throwing. i feel stupid asking, but what the heck r they talking about? if i try to reply to that thread in particular, it ends up at the very end of the thread. it's a huge one. so that's not gonna help me. like i said, i feel stupid asking, but i'm sure i'll be like :smackingf as soon as i read it! i've racked my brain and i can't recall dic. i'm only an lpn, so maybe it's more of an rn thing? here's 1 place i saw it. respiratory syncytial virus- contact precautions systemic lupus erythematosus- butterfly rash on nose and cheek. avoid sunlight with dic...get worried if you see blood oooze from the iv line. notify doctor tegratol- tx for seizures..watch for drowsiness, n/v, blurred vision, h/a. kayexalate- may be ordered for a high potassium level i know doc is drug of choice. then i was thinkgin dig, but that's not right. help me!! my brain hurts as it is!! lol
  10. Well, I was moving to another state and my NY license wouldn't transfer, so I could say "After I move." But for you, you're right! Nosey is no way to be! If they want to SUPPORT u, that's 1 thing! But otherwise, just say, "I have plenty of time. Thank you for your support." Maybe that would work??
  11. Gigi--- SATA are the single most nerve wracking ??'s for me. I always get 2/3 or 4/5. I always have 1 extra though??!! I guess my rationale is different. I need to make it the same!! LOL U necessarily didn't do bad. NCLEX is a progressive test. If you get the harder ? and U get it right, it gets harder. Get it wrong, it gets easier then works back up. It basically tests ur competency and critical thinking. I think (from what I've read), there is no magic number for pass/fail. I was told that NC does quick results. But on business days. So maybe tomorrow you can find out??!! I was aslo told NC does pass/fail right on the screen. Now, I'm sure that isn't so. But I don't argue with superiors. Good luck and keep us posted!! I bet you did fine!
  12. i'm trying to avoid "studying" and just do the random fact idea. there's some great acronyms in there. i did find in school that my weakest area was test day. doing the "homework" part of the book was fine. didn't always have to refer back to the text to answer the ??'s. but, doing tests/review, i seem to go "blank"!! aaaack! maybe i'm not ready. i'll not sleep 2nite unless i take a sleeping pill. i know that. already have my classic gi upset when all nerved up! lol :omy:
  13. CONGRATS to you! What an inspiring story you tell! I think it's great that you followed your dream!!!
  14. So tomorrow's the day! I take my NCLEX-PN!!!! Anyone have any last minute things that helped them? I am going about my normal rotine today, but also reading through the random fact thread. Helpful info there! I HIGHLY recommend it if you haven't yet read it! I just wish I'd found it sooner than midnite last nite! LOL I'm only upto page 31! LOL OK.... TIA to all my peers for their advice!!
  15. What a great story that was to share. Thank you for that. I'm sorry you went thru so much pain before that. And the emotinal pain that pilot went thru. How awful to feel that way. Sad truth though, yanno? I'm glad to hear you're better now though! I bet that video will always stick out for you. I had my gallbladder out 4 weeks into starting NS! I ended up having to stay 2 extra days. Draining too much fluid and my heart rate kept fluttering around. Grrrr..... 2 months after that I also had to have a partial hysterectomy over Thanksgiving break (so as not to miss ANY class time!) My gallbladder was misdiagnosed years before as GERD. So for years, I went with that pain. I feel your pain! Poor Dr. that checked me out almost got whacked when he touched me...LOL Thank goodness when I was on the med/surg floor, I had a brand new RN student that could do the drain. She had never gotten to do it in clinical. She was sooooo nervous the first time that she would hurt me. Poor girl!! Glad I could help her out.LOL And my Gyn floor nurses were also the nurses that were there when I delivered my kids. Beth even brought me out to the desk to show me stuff. She said" Get yer butt outta bed girlie. We're walking!" LOL Gotta love nurses!
