  1. yeah that is definately need to know information! preferably as soon as possible. but usually the info comes a day late and a dollar short!
  2. I recently read an article about MRSA. It stated that in the U.S. 15% of healthy cats and 38% of dogs with recurrent pyoderma were found to have MRSA. Does anyone else find this extremely interesting? I am anxious to hear other thoughts on this subject.
  3. i have given meds, well crushed and soaked in soda, down a dobhoff tube. flush well before and after. my questions is...does anyone get any residual back on these tubes? i have checked and do not get any all the while my patient sounded horrible with rhonchi. just wondering....
  4. I do realize that i know very little, but the fact that i can make a difference in someones day is all i am after. If i can make one patient feel better, if just for a while, then it was worth me coming in and doing my job. I do it for the patients.

My patient had a groshong placed a few days ago. On the Mar was written to flush with heparinzed solution TID. My question is... Is it necessary? A fellow nurse says no and she didnt do it when she took care of same patient, but i did. Did i screw up? I looked back at doctors orders and there was a T.O. for Heparinized flushes....signed off by the doctor. I still feel as though i was right in doing the hep flush .... Green RN
  6. I am a new RN, fresh out of school. I recieved an admit straight from the doctors office, no problem, but she had chest pain. I look at the physicians admission orders and all there was to give was protonix. I was floored. Is this normal? I had to call the doctor to get orders for nitro, 02, etc...dr was kinda pissy with me. I do not understand this.....shouldnt there have been cardiac orders? clueless!
  7. what i like about nursing is not the money, lol. It is the patients. I have met some that have been sent from god to help my soul. It has helped me heal from a tragic loss in January. My job is my "getaway" life when life at home is to hectic and turbulant. At the end of the day I feel good when i come home from work. I like that.
