  1. You really need to finish all prereqs before you even apply. As for me, I also had 3 letters of recommendations--one from volunteering in a hospital; one from a professor; and from a nurse manager from the floor I volunteered in. It's not stated anywhere on the application process. I just happened to stumbled upon a form listing out all the recommendations on the PV website, but it meant for PV students already enrolled to the university. I thought it wouldn't hurt to go for it. I volunteered several months in that hospital and I had to retake A&PI to get my letter of recommendation from a professor. I hope this info helps.
  2. i'm declining the admission. i hope one of you get my spot. sorry, guys for even waffling about my decision to accept or not.
  3. yeah, i know if i was in that bubble of getting in or not, i would want that person who isn't sure to just give up their spot. it's the sense of security of something to fall back on is what making me hold out. i actually just signed the acceptance form to my first-choice and i will be declining the offer to the other school in the near future. i just don't know when though.
  4. thank you. i fully understand and i feel so guilty, but i'm so worried about losing my chance on either schools based on anything that might go wrong along the way. the ironic thing is both school have their orientation on the very same day day and they're practically down the street from each other.
  5. i just received an acceptance to my first-choice school, but before that i had just accepted the offer of admission to another school. i don't want to be taking someone's possible spot in the acceptance list if i'm leaning towards another school, but i want a something to fall back on. i don't think i'm actually accepted to the school until i have my class schedule in my hands and wearing the uniform. anyone in the same position?

  7. i actually received an acceptance letter to my first-choice school just yesterday. i don't really know when i should inform PVAMU that i am leaning towards my first choice. i guess we need to inform the admissions counsellor, ms. anderson, but i want a something to fall back on. i mean, to me, i don't think i'm actually accepted to the school until i have my class schedule in my hands and wearing the uniform.
  8. i got in! i just got back from work when i checked the mail and saw the two envelopes--they looked so thin to be anything but rejection letters. i ignored them for the rest room. i mean, why add rejection on a full bladder. i swear i cried and ran into my parents rooms, who were sleeping already, to tell them. i'm in a daze, i was prepared for a rejection. i've been running around trying to get ready for another nursing school's "provisional" admission. at least, i know in this acceptance letter it is a guaranteed admission, barring that i haven't committed a crime that i'm unaware of or been taking an illicit substance, which i haven't because i'm a good citizen:) i hope this isn't a dream. i've been pinching myself because it hasn't set in yet. congrats to those who have been accepted!! for the other hopefuls, i wish you well and don't give up!
  9. Sorry to bother you, but you're the only person that I know of that received the "Provisional" letter from the College of Nursing. Did you by any chance just receive the acceptance letter from PVAMU? I received mine just this Saturday, November 1st, which is way past the October deadline. I know I need to be accepted to the university first before I even get accepted to the College of Nursing, but I didn't think it'd come this late. I applied to both at the same time, but who knew I would hear first from the College of Nursing before the university?! I've contacted whoever I can for help, but no one has responded. I've just forwarded whatever I could just now. Please, tell me I'm not the only one!
  10. Please post in the forum if you get yours too, so we can compare notes. I wonder if everyone received theirs packets opened. Yes, you got to forward all the classes you've taken. I think PVAMU assumes that you have finished all your prerequisites by this stage. The letter states that Fall 2008 transcripts need to be forwarded to the Admissions Counsellor. I don't know whether that means you send it with the 5 items that they asked for in the letter or not. Good luck! I hope you get yours soon.
  11. I thought I was the only one--some sort of bad omen or something. I emailed PVAMU about it and asked if everything was accounted for, and so far, so good. I actually sent that packet to the Admissions Counselor on Tuesday, the very day I went for my drug test. I didn't attach the FAFSA application to that SDS application because I don't think I'll be qualified either way. I hope that doesn't count against me. I did send it in! Still need to get my CPR card and my physical. I'm waiting for TWU too! You'd think we'd hear from them before PVAMU since their deadline was earlier. Thank you for lessening my worries. Still worried until I'm actually enrolled as an actual student.
  12. Hello, I just received a packet from Prairie View stating that I have "Provisional" admission to the school, so from what I understand is that all I need to do is meet all the final requirements and I'm good to go. Coincidentally, I just found that it came in the mail after I finished taking the NET for UT. The only thing that is bothering me is that I received the packet already opened. You can clearly tell that it's been pried opened. I know I'm just being paranoid, but I've worked so hard for anyone to mess with such important documents. So anyone who may have received this very packet, can you please put my mind at ease by telling me all the contents of the packet?
  13. The suspense of waiting is killing me. I had received an email a few weeks ago about how some applicants were put in Blackboard with incorrect names. I was one of those applicants, but I had that corrected quickly. No news so far, and as far as I can tell that's a good thing. I don't know about my chances against everyone, I'm just hoping that TWU has a waiting list.
