When buying online, always factor in the shipping charge when comparing - and look for free stuff and other items you might need from the same online store. There are indeed many sensibly priced alternatives to Littmann - especially stethoscopes from DRG/Trimline (PureTone), MDF (ER Premier) and Riester (cardiophon and tri-star). An internet search should provide you with the best prices available, just remember to factor in shipping charges!

Yup, it's a "designer label" thing for sure, but you will find that the PureTone (DRG/Trimline), cardiophon and tri-star (Riester), and the ER Premier (MDF) models are all of equal calibre.

DRG (Doctors Research Group)/Trimline, Riester and MDF - all also very good, and you may find less expensive than Littmann

I've heard of some things called GELSEAL which are liquid filled and more comfortable - around $5 I think online
