New grad nurse in MS and pregnant
I am a new grad RN and I just started orientation and a week before that, I found out that I was pregnant! I thought I was only 7-8 wks pregnant, but it turned out that I am already 13 wks along. I had no signs or symptoms except missing my period, which was irregular in the first place. I'll be working as a med-surg unit...so my question is....when should I tell my manager that I'm pregnant? Can I be fired for being pregnant? How should I tell my manager? And also, since I'll be going through a 3-month orientation, I'll be about 7 months when I finish. Anyone ever been in this situation? I am really stressed out about this. Please help me. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

need advice...accept job offer from WHC in DC or Suburban hospital in MD?
I need some advise. I love both Suburban and WHC hospitals. I live about 15 mins away from Suburban. It is a small, community hospital with a great orientation program. WHC is a large, teaching hospital also with a great orientation program. WHC pays more ($27.60) but has union dues, Suburban hospital pays $24. WHC is affiliated w/ Georgetown, Suburban w/ Hopkins and NIH and will be going magnet. In your opinion, as a new grad, which hospital would be better to work for? I need all the advice I could get...please help me!!!

First Year Nursing Student @ UMB (SG)- Schedule Help
Do most of your classes at the same day because you're going to need the other days for clinicals. Some clinicals are twice/week and they're usually wed and thurs. You usually have nothing going on Fridays. Keep Mon-thur open for both lectures and clinicals.

UMB's BSN textbook list?
You might need the study guide for Health Assessment, because you might need to rip off some pages, but don't buy the study guides. Just buy a good nclex review book, which you can use for the rest of your classes.

Wanting to know about psychiatric facilities in MD/DC area?
In Frederick county, there's this psych outpatient facility that it just awesome! Staff and members are warm and friendly. It's outpatient, which I think is so much better the inpatient psych. It's called Way Station.

anyone from shady grove program?
I just finished my first year at the Shady Grove campus and it has been very challenging. I started fall 2007, and my class had about 60 students. At the end of the first sem, we lost about 5 students who either transferred to the Baltimore campus or withdrew from the nursing school. I started off at a community college, then I transferred to Shady Grove. I think that doing all my prereqs at a community college helped me get into the nursing school. It's hard work but I love it. Can't wait to graduate next year! Good luck!
