  1. Hello all I just got offered a job as a new grad in the ER, I am so excited and scared I start 7/3/06 and have been offered a 10,000 relo package. Does anyone have any opions on st. marys and does anyone know where I can rent a house in tucson. thanks
  2. I will start general orientation on may 1st and I will be working night shift. Do you know how the health benifits are as far as cost wise? and are they good benifits? and how do they go about overtime like how do you sign up for it is it posted? what uniforms can you wear color wise? and is it true that it is non-smoking everywhere? Thanks for any replies.
  3. Hello all I will be starting at DePaul on may 1st on 4N on a tele floor. I was wondering if any body had any thoughts about this floor or any info on the benifits.
  4. The best thing I can say to do is go on the internet find the job you like and then call the recruiter, I will be moving back to tucson in june and I already have had interviews or offers from St. Joes, TMC, UMC and the VA.
  5. What is it that is bad? Is it the nurses, equip, pts. etc.when I went down for the student round up everyone seemed really nice so what gives? I really like UMC also so there are choices
  6. I have heard this a lot but have you witnessed TMC first hand? Is it really that bad? I had my children there in labor and delivery and everyone was great. So again can someone who has actually worked at TMC give me some info or someone who works at another tucson hospital.

Hello all I just recently passed my boards and I am now an RN. I was An LPN for a year and a half before this and I currently reside in missouri but I will be moving back to my hometown of Tucson- with that being said I need some info because I was offered a job at TMC working nights and 8,000 relo bonus and 3,00 sign on bonus, they even flew me down and payed for everything the only thing is I keep hearing bad things another thing is the pay is 20.50 an hour plus 17% diff. Now I here that UMC is increasing its wages to 22.00 an hour and they have a 1:4 ratio but there relo is not that great. I think its like 2,000. At TMC I would be on the med/onc floor but I would really like to be in ER. can people who actually work at theses places give me some advice please. Before I send my contract to TMC signed, sealed, and delivered.
  8. You are correct I have a responbility to care for my pts. to the best of my abiliity but thats it. When it comes to my break time it is not my pt. nor anyone elses business what I do as long as it is not illegal or against hospital policies. If you or anyone else has a problem with me smoking then send me a year supply of patches and some gum and we'll talk, if not I guess it dosent bother you that much. Everyone seems to have an opinion but we should all look in the mirror, I don't know about anyone else here but in nursing school I was taught tolerance . :angryfire
  9. i saw this thread and just had to had to comment- i feel that is my right to smoke on my brakes and if that offends people i am sorry but you dont here me complaining when i see some over weight nurse gobbling down fries and a big mac now do you? no of course not because if i did that would be discrimination and with obesity becoming such an epedimic why don't we ban fast food from being served in hospitals, and what message are we sending when an obese nurse can barley walk down the hallway but this is the same nurse that we send in to do pt. teaching about diet and exercise, talk about being a hipocrit. you can say that obesity is not affecting anyone else but what about the children of parents that are obese who are of course eating the same foods and becoming obese or what about the family members who have to take care of these people once they have to heart surgery- obesity can cause a whole slue of health problems down the line and we all see them so lets get real- everyone has there vices even nurses and i will keep mine thankyou very much. i am a nurse not a super human[:angryfire /i]
  10. I passed, I passed, I passed YES!!!!:balloons: RN here, yeah.:smiley_aa
  11. Hi everyone I just took my RN boards today and I am very confused- My school made us take a whole ATI series threwout school taking test every quarter. When I took the test today I was hoping to get only 75 questions and I did just like when I took LPN boards. Well I don't want to jinx myself but it did not seem as hard as I thought it would be, compared to my ATI exit exam it was like another regular unit exam with a little extra umph:) However I am not taking this lightly because it seems when I think a test is easy- it ends op diffrently. I had 2 pick all that apply questions, no math and a lot of endocrine questions along with who would you see first. I can get my results in 48 hours so I will post when I find out. Keep me in your thoughts.:typing
