They told me that they were going to, however it may be a while to see anything, if anything. I have been told that the BON has bigger fish to fry. I hope that they are correct. I really truly do not feel that I did anything wrong, however, I will be much more careful in the future. I have to have an unemployment hearing because of course they are declining my request for unemployment. I am wondering what evidence I can secure to prove my point?

Biggest mistake and SCAM E.V.E.R.

The College Network did me NO FAVORS. I was totally unaware of what I was getting into. They basically give you book and tell you to read them and then you go take the tests. It is a big joke. I rescinded my application w/in the three days, but now they are sending lawyers after me for the money- $6900!! I never even used the program! They are talking about garnishing my wages. I am reporting them and the attorney's they sicked on me to the Attorney General's office of my state. I am so irritated. Know what you are getting into first. These are not (or it was not) like taking an online class through a college. It is a joke. Please look carefully at the program and give yourself a lot of time to really, really think about it before you sign anything.

It is so sad to be the disparity in income for LPN's across the US and Canada. It is amazing to me that someone could go to school and come out of it making $10 an hour. I am also disgusted with the fact that I have been an LPN for 18+ years with vast experience and chg experience and am making $20.50 an hour and haven't had a raise in more than 10 years. WTH? Sad and illegal, yes.

Interviewed with a pool agency- offering $18-21/hr, that is also going all over the metro and into correctional facilities. I made $23-24hr 13 years ago with the pool, now they are paying less?! My last position, I made @$20.50 w/ shift differential of $1.50 for nocs, $1.00 pm, and $3.00 differential for charge nurse.

My plans to move are on hold. I am seeking employment in my home state. I am finding it difficult and I am still stunned by what has transpired. Even more so, hurt. I tried to call the board, but the Tennyson agreement was read to me and was told to wait for the paperwork to arrive to answer my side of the story. In the mean time, I am stressing out. I need to find a place by mid September to live w/ no income, no job, no unemployment and I am scared to death about finding a new job. I am actually wondering why I want to remain a nurse in a "caring profession" that would treat other nurses this way. The idea that I may have to go before the board of nursing to explain my innocent actions, is mystifying to me. In retrospect, as I look at the facts, I wonder what part of the Nurse Practice Act I may have violated, as I cannot figure it out. There are no policies w/in my facility for writing nursing orders. There is no mention of this either anywhere that I can find. I did no harm. In the grand scope of things, I guess I am glad that I got fired for this vs. something really terrible or awful. Lawyers I have spoke to have said not to worry, that I most likely won't hear anything, but I am waiting and worried. I have rotten luck! Thank you to everyone for their comments and support!

This is a good question. Rectal checks are done in an effort to determine whether or not the patient is constipated. It is usually done three days with no bm and prior to the use of a biscodyl supp, which might be on your standing nursing orders. However, if you do not have orders to give a supp, you probably shouldn't be doing rectal checks, it seems that there should be some sort of rationale and follow through for the next step. I am learning quickly that you need to maintain boundaries and advocate for your own license. I recently wrote an order to offer a pain medication prior to therapies, which the patient had available prn. I was fired for this and reported to the board. You never know what might transpire. I did not harm, but the powers that be, thought otherwise.

It was a flag for the nurses to alert them that she needed to be evaluated for pain prior to therapy. We don't have scheduled therapy times.

The day before I was dismissed, the provider wrote an order for medications (for the same patient) that were already ordered. I had to call her to tell her this and she was annoyed... With me. I think this contributed to this. It seems shameful, that time and time again, this same provider writes orders and has no clue what the patient is actually on, yet I have never said this, it is true. The same NP is very, very difficult to work with. She doesn't like to hear any updates, yet will complain that she doesn't know things. It is kind of like she creates a fear of her, for a while, she wouldn't even allow the floor nurses to speak with her, we had to go through the charge nurse.

I haven't figured it out yet. I have tried to look at it, but I don't really get it.

I already have my California license. I am going to go about my business, apply for jobs. Call the board on Monday, apply for liability insurance and start selling everything to move. And.... Pray!

That is a good point. I sent a message and told them I felt that I was wrongfully terminated and told them I was seeking counsel. If a prospective employer asks, are they eligible for rehire, they will say no- a red flag for any employer.
