Anxious... Will I have my job if not hired for new job?
I am going to try to make this as short as possible. Here is my situation. I interviewed for a position within the same hospital that I currently work for. The interviewing manager asked me if I had told my current manager that I was applying, I replied with no. The interviewing manager then asked me to tell her because she was going to contact her for a reference. So I told her. A few days later, my manager approaches me and asks me how interested I am in the new position because she needs to contact HR for my replacement if I am going to take the new job. I told my manager then that I was unsure and couldn't commit 100% at this time because I hadn't been offered the job yet. My manager told me that she had spoken transfer dates with the other manager so I will more than likely be offered the position according to her. I then told my manager I still didn't feel comfortable committing without an offer, but I was interested in the new position so she could take that information and do what she needed to do. This all occurred middle of last week. I have not heard anything from the interviewing manager or HR as of yet and my manager already contacted HR to start the hiring process to replace me!! I don't know what to do. What if they don't call and offer me the job? Will I still have my original job? Do you think that I will be offered the position based on this situation?

Interview today and I am not qualified...help
So I applied for a job back in October and the job description was very vague. Well, Friday I received an email with details for a 2 hour interview with 6 directors for today. Well, upon reading the job description that was attached, I find out it is for management in information services. I am interested in going into information services, but really have no experience. I feel like a fool walking into this interview without any experience, but also don't want to cancel at the last minute because I am interested in this area...just not sure I am ready for management! My dh explained that they looked at my resume and should know I have no experience and they were still interested, but I am worried... What would you do? Thanks!

FASFA.. long
i can tell you that my husband was in a similar situation as you when he started college. his dad was pretty much worthless and not aroundand his stepdad was refusing to help with school. unfortunately, he had to put his stepdad's information on the fafsa form as well. i went to the fafsa site and copied what it said. i am sorry that you are put in this situation, but your stepdad's income is your mom's income therefore the government thinks he should help pay! you can always get student loans to help cover this and there are plenty of scholarships out there for people who are middle class citizens. also make sure to add your sisters' info on the form as this will help you. if your parents are married, answer the questions about both parents. if your parent is widowed or single, answer only the questions about that parent. if your parents have divorced or separated, answer only the questions about the parent that you lived with most during the last 12 months. if you did not live with one parent more than the other, answer only the questions about the parent who provided most of your financial support during the last 12 months. if your parent has remarried after being widowed or divorced, answer the questions about both your parent and your stepparent. if you have a legal guardian, you cannot use your legal guardian's information on your application. a legal guardian is not considered a parent in the financial aid process. if you have foster parents, you cannot use your foster parent's information on your application. a foster parent is not considered a parent in the financial aid process. if you were adopted, follow the instructions above for parents, based on your parents' current marital status. note: the following people are not considered parents on this form unless they have legally adopted you: grandparents, foster parents, legal guardians, older brothers or sisters, and uncles or aunts

Is anyone a seasonal nurse?
I do not know much about this, but know at my hospital there is a program called Summers Off Program in which the nurses with kiddos in school work during the school year and then they are off during the summer months to stay at home with the kids. I am sure that anyone can do this as it would be discriminating if they would not let someone without kids participate! This might be available in other places as well, but sounds like it might be a good option for you. Then when you are off, maybe you could work for a nurse agency or pick up one travel assignment.

Tips 5 days before the NCLEX-RN exam
Try to relax first off! I looked over labs, isolations, vaccinations schedules, and insulins the last couple days before the test. This is something that I knew that I personally needed to review as I was unsure about it all and knew that I had to know it because there is no way to really think through these things if you don't know it-you don't know it! You will feel like you failed after taking it, but relax and try not to think about it! I had 75 questions, and I cried for a day after taking it- I "knew" that I had failed. Even called my dad crying and he was like "stay calm, if you failed then you failed and you will be better off next time. We can just use this as a practice exam". I found out 24 hours later that I had PASSED!! Good luck to you!! You will do great!!!!!

Each job title wears it's own color.
We do this where I work. All RNs have to wear royal blue or white plain scrubs with the exception of peds nurses and they wear royal blue or white pants, but can wear a printed top. The LPNs wear Caribean blue, RTs navy, and therapists wear green. I am not really sure that this helps patients, but I like it because I can always tell who I am dealing with if I transfer a patient to another floor or a nurse floats to us, or someone is in pts room that you do not know, etc. And it makes getting dressed for work a lot easier and quicker!!! It took some adjusting, but I think overall everyone loves it!

summer internship vs. summer travel
I say that you take the trip. I started working as a graduate nurse the day after I graduated from college. I worked 2-3 weeks and then went on a cruise with my family which was prescheduled, came back worked another week and then went to Florida for a week for a family wedding. My new manager was okay with this as I told her these plans before accepting the job and she just made sure that I had the time off. We also recently had a new grad who worked for a month or so and then took some time off to go to Italy. The manager was fine with this as well as she was up front with her and she knew about it when she was hired. I really think that you can do both if you are honest with the managers! If not, I still say travel as you are only young once and like others said- work will always be there! Don't pass this opportunity up!

BSU Summer 08'
I graduated from BSU in Dec 06! Do not drop this course, but study study study and prove this instructor wrong. I felt the same exact way in this class, but made it out alive and passed! You will do fine as long as you apply yourself. This is the class that they try to weed out the students who are not going to devote their lives to nursing school for the next 2.5 years. After completing this course, the instructor told me that she was so proud of how much I matured and grew in her course and that she was just trying to push me to the next level and show me my potential! Not that I really believed her, but I did prove her wrong.

Too early for CCRN?
I have been a nurse since December 2006 and have worked on the PICU since graduating. My boss is trying to get me to take the CCRN test tihs fall and as an incentive the review class will be no charge to me, and if i PASS the test I will be reimbursed. I am worried that it is way too soon for me to take the test as I haven't really been a nurse for that long and don't know if I am ready. Any advice?
