How Competitive are the Accelerated BSN Programs
Thank you for your thorough response. It is helpful to hear some encouraging words as this process is certainly overwhelming :)

How Competitive are the Accelerated BSN Programs
cereus - do you mind me asking what undergrad gpa you had and what experience (if any)? i'm getting sort of discouraged by a lot of the posts that basically say you have to have perfect grades both in undergrad and pre-reqs. I have confidence I will get good grades in my pre-reqs, but there is nothing I can do about my undergrad gpa of a 2.9. My biggest fear is that I would quit my job, take the pre-reqs full time because I have so many to take, and then not get into a program. I would have sacrificed everything and ended up with nothing. What does it take to get into these programs and why are they so extremely competitive? I thought there was a shortage of nurses!

Accelerated Programs in Boston
thank you for your advice, if you don't mind me asking, what gpa did you have in undergrad and did you have health care experience? I will definitely work very hard to get perfect grades in my pre-reqs, I just hope that will be good enough. I have heard that they look closer at your pre-reqs, than your overall gpa from undergrad. I have a couple pre-reqs from undergrad - psych and stats, but unfortunately I didn't do that well in stats so i'm thinking i should probably re-do that one as well, its just becoming a lot of classes. As of now, I have to take a&p 1&2, chem 1&2, micro, depending on the program, human growth, although some schools will accept my develop psych for that. The programs I'm looking at are curry, umass, mass school of pharm, mgh, and simmons. Do you know if some are more competitive than others? Congrats on getting into Curry!! I have heard they have a great program.

Accelerated Programs in Boston
Hi Jaquiep12, Have you heard back from anyone? I am dealing with similar concerns. My undergrad gpa is a 2.86 and I have yet to find a thread about someone who had a lower gpa (under 3.0) and got into an accelerated program. It seems that everyone has had a 3.3 or higher My plan was to get a part time job at a hospital and take my pre-reqs this year and then apply for programs in 2009. However, I don't want to make this commitment and take this risk, if my undergrad gpa is going to prevent me from getting into a program! Any feedback you have heard would be greatly appreciated!
