  1. Hi! I live in Orlando too! Have you looked into Herzing nursing school in Winter Park? I don't know how felxible they are but I have heard good things about their program. Here's their link: http://www.herzing.edu/school.php?program=259
  2. Hey Tassy! Glad to see you joined! I don't think we have to take the TEAS bc at orientation they said that it wouldn't go into effect until next year. I guess we'll have to wait until we get the revised version of that e-mail.
  3. For the UCF program they want you to take the Into to Gen Chem. I took the course at Valencia and it was CHM1025C.
  4. Congrats on getting in Stephanie! I'm so excited to start the program! RanRoc- thanks for the advise! It's always nice to talk to other people who have been through the same program. What kind of nurse are you?
  5. I start nursing school in May and was told that we should not have a job while in the program. It's a full time accelerated program so I will have to quit my job soon. It will be financially straining on me but I do live close to family who will help when they can and I have applied for loans, scholarships and grants. Good luck with the program! :)
  6. Thank you so much for the info. and advice! The program definatly sounds intense but it has to be since it's only a year long. It's good to know that you can have an active social life and still maintain a high GPA. I am very prepared for this and am looking forward to it! Good luck with the rest of the program! You're almost finished! That's has got to feel good. :) Do you want to get your masters?
  7. Hi! I'm so excited! I will be starting the program May 18th! I was wondering if you could let me know what to expect and if you have any advice that would be great! Thank you! Jenn :)
  8. Thank you!! Luzia- I sent you a message :)
  9. Thank you! Wow 24 seats is insane! I was like you, during my last semester at FSU I had made up my mind about going into nursing. I started my pre-reqs the next summer. I'll keep you posted about how the program goes. It starts May 18th. I'm so excited!
  10. Yes I got my letter yesterday!
  11. I got in!!! I'm so excited!!! Do you have any advice?
  12. I got my letter!!!! Yay, I'm in!! So excited!!!
  13. I've decided to stay in state to get my nursing degree. I can't afford out of state tuition right now. It's either UCF, Florida Hospital or Nova for me.
  14. That's cool! Do you live in Orlando right now?
  15. I started my pre-reqs a year ago as well and it feels good to be finished with them! Looking back they did seem to go by fast...
  16. I got my AA from TCC in 05' then went to FSU. I got an art degree though. :)
  17. Congrats!!! It's quite an accomplishment to even to get into nursing school! They're so selective these days! I was told to expect a letter between the end of February and mid March.
  18. I'm not sure but I have head this too. I know there's not one at FL. hospital but the downside is it's more expensive.
  19. That's annoying about the transcript. Valencia is a great school but I really don't want to have to go there for nursing. I took all my nursing pre-reqs there and I just wasn't in love with it. So are you talking about spring 10' for their program? I'm feeling pretty anxious myself. I haven't applied anywhere else. My gut tells me to just take the 4 more classes I need for Nova and start shadowing a physician ASAP if I don't get in. I know I'm going to be in school forever anyway. lol. That's funny that your dad is urging you to do that because mine is too! Infact he told me to go for that before the nursing degree. But the thing about a BSN degree is that you can get an MSN degree and become a NP which is very similar to a PA or you could go into nurse anesthesiology. There's just so much you can do with it! One of my favorite quotes is "experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted" by Randy Pausch. I think it's true. :)
  20. That's awesome! I hope we all get in! :) Did they tell you when acceptance letters would be mailed?
  21. Thanks! At the interview they said they would try to aim for the end of Feb. but we'll see about that...
  22. No I'm waiting to hear from UCF in Orlando :).
  23. If I decided to go to florida hospital I would still need the 2 religion courses too but I'm going to call them today and see if there's any way to get out that...lol. Those courses atually aren't listed under the nurse cognate courses, they're listed under gen ed. I've considered Valencia too and I still might, but I just liked the thought of Fl hos because it's so close to where I live and I could probably get in over the summer. I've heard if you sign on with them afterwards they pay off your tuition so that's a plus. Let me know how the NET goes. Are you taking it at Valencia? If we do have to go the ASN degree route, at least there are options where we can get our RN-BSN or RN-MSN degree (you get both your BSN and MSN!) at UCF and FL hospital. I'm trying to tell myself it won't be the end of the world. I've also considered PA school at Nova Orl. I still need 4 more pre-reqs and I would need to shadow a physician but hey it could be well worth it so why not? haha, I'm calling up my boyfriend whenever he gets home before me to check the mail! lol. I think we're all in the same boat. I just hope we hear something soon too...
  24. I think we are! I'm freaking out about getting my letter! I know it's out of my control but I'm going to be so dissapointed if I don't get in. Have you finished all your pre-reqs? I completed all mine and did well in them (no C's) but my cumulative GPA of all college work still only comes out to a 3.4. I've heard rumors about how they mostly admit applicants who have a 3.6 and above . Do you have any back- up plans? I'm thinking about the florida hospital program if I don't get in. Unfortunatly it will take 2 years to get an ASN degree...
