  3. hi i see no one is answering, probably because it’s in the too hard basket. there are some really great resources put out by the australian gov for remote and rural nurses. having guideline for common conditions ect what medications to administer for how long and when you need to access the mos. don’t know if this is any help as to their pay conditions. you need a united front to high light their issues. vamparee
  4. Hi I was an EN for 20yrs then had a senior moment and decided to go to UNI do my RNs. I am single parent of 2 ,buying my house. I worked full time studied full time. Start my study externally but changed to internal within th first week. I wouldnt advise any one to do it this way very hard my days off where my uni days. My kids where older which helped. My daughter went through with me she kept me on the straight and narrow. You have to put your life on hold for 3 yrs and be so orgainsed. I look back now and think how the hell did i survive. Used all my holidays for placements with a bit of long service thrown in. But I dont regret it and I am enjoying being an RN gives you a better scope at work. you just have to make some sacrfices Vamparee

  7. hi italyn i am in a similar situation where for some unknown reason i though i needed more of a challenge. after 23 yrs in paeds/mat with a bit of a&e thrown in, i decided to try hdu. we are a small unit in a regional area with only 6 beds in hdu. so after 1 study day & 2 days orientation i am in there on my own with a back up staff out on the ward who have their own full work load. day one on my own beds full & then i get 2 amis & an attempted hanging that required ventilation. then i have to tract down mos to move hdu patient out to the ward cause the first mi has bypassed a&e and coming straight to me. i feel so inadequate but at least i could recognise the st elevation. these ecgs are so hard to grasp not to mention all the other stuff that comes through. the regular members of the unit are just great maybe in another 20yrs i will be we they are. best of luck in your new adventure vamparee
