  1. I'm wigging out a little bit, but I'm trying to stay positive. It will be hard and I will have absolutely no life for the next 2 years, but I'm going to do this. I'll make it.
  2. It's not true. I had all of my prereqs done by my January application, with the exception of A&P2 and Micro which I took in the Spring. I was admitted. I had straight A's in all my sciences and a B in my Prob & Stats class. This means I had all my prereqs completed by the time nursing school started this semester. You would be in the same situation. You would have A&P1, your math and all other prereqs complete for your nursing application and you would be taking your A&P2 and Micro in the spring. I would hate to take Micro or A&P while taking the nursing courses. That would be tough. Get all your prereqs done before nursing school starts, even if you have to take summer school. Don't let them discourage you. Apply and take the entrance exam and wait. That's all you can do.
  3. Hey Beth! We didn't get a handbook at orientation. Maybe we will get it at the 2nd orientation in August. Were you able to hook up with any of the 2010 class and get to know them? I saw that you joined their Facebook group. Hey Dee, did you get a chance to check out the Facebook group? It's call Roane State Nursing Class of 2011. There are a bunch of folks on there now. Hey Dee78, what did you think of the orientation? There were alot of folks there. Did you get any of the T-shirts or supplies? I bought 2 T-shirts. I couldn't resist! LOL. I also bought a few supplies. Were you able to get the classes that you needed? I'm really tickled because I got in at the Oak Ridge campus and it's only 15 minutes from the house. That helps out alot!
  4. Orientation is Tuesday! I'm am so excited! I just can't wait! Anybody else feel the same way? Oh, by the way, I don't know who does Facebook, but I started a Roane State Nursing Class of 2011 group on Facebook. Hopefully, it will allow everyone a chance to network, socialize and get to know each other. This is not an official school group, just a Facebook social group. Hope you will join! Please also let any other Roane State Nursing students know! See you at orientation on Tuesday!

  6. Hey Beth! Congratulations!!! :yeah:I knew you would get back in! You will make a wonderful nurse and they knew that! I know that it has to a relief to you, though. I'm getting really excited about orientation on Tuesday. I can't wait!
  7. Getting really excited and scared! Orientation is just a week away. I can't wait. I don't know what to expect at orientation or what they are going to say. On the plus side, they said that we could bring a guest. Guess who's coming? My Dad! Can you believe it? I'm 41 years old and my Dad said he wanted to come to orientation with me. I thought that was really sweet. If my Mamaw (grandmother) was still alive, I would bring her too. She always wanted to be a nurse. She got married and never went to nursing school, though. She used to tell me all the time when I was a little girl that I would make a wonderful nurse. She passed away 3 years ago. My only regret is that she didn't get to see me pursue my dream and hers. I know she's watching, though. :heartbeat
  8. Well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. You'll make a wonderful nurse!
  9. Beth, I'm worried about ya. Have you received your readmit letter yet? Like I said before, Roane State really should hire you as a recruiter! You are the best cheerleader that their program has! I'm really looking forward to meeting you face to face! You are such an amazing and giving person!
  10. Why don't we tell a bit about ourselves. I'm 41. I have my bachelor's degree and I'm changing careers. I have all of my prerequisites done at this point. I'm really excited about meeting everyone and making some amazing friendships over the next 2 years.
  11. I got my acceptance letter on Wednesday! I'm so excited! I'm really looking forward to orientation on May 19th! Hope to see everyone there! The adventure begins.....
  12. Hey Beth, Does the 160 include RODP? Or is that number just Roane State on-campus folks?
  13. I sent you a private message with a little more detail, but I would take Dr. Anthony Jenkins for A&P 1&2, if you can get into his class. It fills up very quickly. The best thing that you can do to improve your chances are to make outstanding grades in your Science classes. You are in control of whether or not you get in. Just do your best. You do not have to have all of your prerequisites complete to apply. As long as you have at least 12 hours, including a Math, you can apply in Spring. Remember the deadline is usually the 3rd week in January. Double check the date. Do not miss that deadline. If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me and I'll help as much as I can. Good luck to you!
  14. I don't know how many applied or were accepted yet. I'm sure they'll announce the numbers at the orientation on May 19th. I'm really excited. Beth, I hope you get your readmit letter quickly. You've been such a blessing and answered so many of my questions over the last year. I'm going to try to pass on your good karma to other folks. In all honesty, the Roane State Nursing program ought to make you the official ambassador!
  15. I sent you a private message with a little more detail, but I would take Dr. Anthony Jenkins for A&P 1, if you can get into his class. It fills up very quickly. The best thing that you can do to improve your chances are to make outstanding grades in your Science classes. You are in control of whether or not you get in. Just do your best. If this is your first semester, make sure you take your math. You must have your math completed to apply. I would take a Math, A&P 1 and maybe Speech and Comp 1 this fall. You do not have to have all of your prerequisites complete to apply. As long as you have at least 12 hours, including a Math, you can apply in Spring. Remember the deadline is usually the 3rd week in January. Double check the date. Do not miss that deadline. Good luck to you!
  16. Hey Dee78! Congrats to you, too! I wonder if we know each other or if we've had classes together? Can't wait to meet all the folks in our class! I'm really excited about May 19th! Yippie! See ya there!
  17. :yeah:CONGRATULATIONS !!! Congratulations on all your hard work and in achieving your goal! I got my acceptance letter today and I hope to be where you are in 2 more years!
  18. I have it in my hot little hands!!! "The Nursing Admissions Committee met recently to review candidates for admission into the Nursing Program. We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into Roane State's Nursing Program for Fall Semester, 2009." Yippee! Yippee! Orientation meeting on May 19th in the Theatre on the Harriman Campus! I'm so excited.

  20. I took mine in the summer of 2008. I saw jdpmjg89's comments about the Red Cross program and it really bugged me. I had a wonderful experience with them. I passed my State exam with flying colors and felt wonderfully prepared. I don't know who the instructor is now, but I took the night class and my instructor was wonderful!
  21. Well, I heard that they sent they mailed the letters today. I don't know if that's true or not. If it is true, then that means they should be in the mailbox tomorrow or Thursday. I really hope so. This waiting is really tough. I just want to know what I'll be doing next year, ya know? I want to make plans one way or another.
  22. I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)
  23. I think it would be a really neat idea to keep a diary all the way through nursing school like she did. That's the only reason that her grand daughter was able to do this video. She took the comments from her grandmother's diary.
  24. OK, has anyone gotten an acceptance letter for the Fall 2009 Roane State class?
  25. I'm glad you enjoyed the videos. I thought they were amazing. I hope everyone will take 5 minutes and at least take a quick look. 50 years as a nurse in the same hospital! Just think of the things that she saw from the 1930's through the 1980's. It's so important that we look at where we've been so we can understand where we're going.
