Is nursing really worth it??
It is soooooooooooo worth it. Like any profession, not all areas are for all nurses. The opportunities are endless. I have always found that if a nurse is unhappy then they haven't found thier passion. "Do what you love & love what you do" (27 year experience)

Is nursing really worth it??
Harsh, its unfortunate you feel this way. The patients family are pivotal in providing good nursing care. Difficult at times, absolutely. The patients family can not be looked at as the enemy, you must try to see thier perspective...fear, lack of knowledge, minimal resources, difficulties coping. Try stepping back and taking another look, maybe you can help them get to where they need to be to be a resource for the patient.Make them aware, you are an advocate...gently.

Question for Experienced Nurses
If the accredidation isn't an issue that makes the decision process a little different. I would physically go to the schools to get a "sense" for the environment. You might discover if nothing else that they are equal whereby making the smaller the winner due to commute and potential networking for your future. Is there a wait list for one and not the other? Is there a chance you wouldn't get accepted? Maybe you should apply at both if this is the case? Just thoughts....good luck!

HELP! I got dismissed from my nursing school
You were dimissed on performance issues.....I would have to agree that dozing off during your clinical observing or not is clearly a performance issue. I would of had issue as a preceptor, instructor or colleague as well. I don't think you should be making excuses for your behaviour as it is indeed YOUR behaviour. With that being said, I would admit that the outcome seems harsh. Did you take any responsibility in your actions at the time? If you made the same number of excuses to your instructor, peers and Dean perhaps it was the lack of responsibility & accountability you demonstrated after the incident that hurt you the most. (Just a thought)
