Please tell me this is a joke. In Australia this type of harassment/bullying is unlawful and I've never experienced it in 25 years of work. If you are sick, you are sick, if you've run out of sick days without a doctor's certificate than you are still sick but you may not get paid if you don't have one. Surely there are industrial relations laws to protect those workers who are legitmately sick. :angryfire :angryfire

Hi, I work in the South West of WA but I did a placement at Graylands so here you go. This is the largest mental health hospital in WA and a teaching hospital. Around 300 beds. Acute mental health and has a many secure beds as well as forensic ward for criminally insane. Working there was like working in any acute mental health hospital, pretty full on. Normal staff shortages, lot's of OT but only voluntary. The hospital is set in lovely gardens about 5-10 minutes drive from central Perth. Climate in Perth is great, warm and dry and basic rental for 2 bedroom flat in suburbs nearby can be had from $150.00 a week upwards. Train and bus go nearby and transport is not a problem. Cost of living is reasonable and no probs. surviving on a RN's wage Level 1 $40,000 to $52000 plus penalty shifts. I found staff really friendly but moral a bit down, no different from anywhere else really. Best beaches in the world and a small city of 1.2 million make Perth a great place to live, not as good as the South West though. Hope this help, good luck. :rotfl:

We deal with lots of potentially dangerous clients before transfer to Perth and it can be scary. Having previously been a copper for some 15 years I can't believe how we nurses let our administrations get away with putting our safety in jeopardy. What happened at Swan could happen anytime to anyone of us and we MUST make our management accountable. May I suggest a refusal to admit these pts. is the only answer unless and until a safe workplace is provided. Maybe tough but there does not appear to be any other answer. Stay safe

What's impossible about the US. Take the NCLEX and then go for it. TAkes a year or so but they will welcome you with open arms as a few of my mates have found out. Tip: Fly over and take the exam yourself, don't go agency as you will have many more options. Good Luck :rotfl:
