  1. Mine are at Memorial. Let me know how your first day goes!
  2. The patient I was putting the foley in was moaning in pain from a surgery and tears were falling every time I touched her leg to position it. I think that is what overwhelmed me so much. The IV patient had very little feeling in the arm I was putting the IV in so it worked out. Keep me posted on your adventures in clinicals.
  3. Hello everyone I just had to share with you guys my clinical day this week. I put in my first foley and my first IV on real people. I was so nervous I was shaking and I almost started crying. It is kinda funny how nervous I was looking back on it. Whew, I am so glad my first are over.
  4. I could not have said it better. Simulations for Tue. is coming far to soon. I feel like my brain is so full of information that it will soon come leaking through my ears. I am so exhausted.
  5. I'm guess I am weird too I also like the math part. I finished the dosage calc today and am pleasantly surprised how well it went.
  6. In our book Subcut stands for subcutaneous, but in our Dosage independent study I see SQ. I think they are using SQ as the abbreviation for subcutaneous in our study guide am I right?
  7. i'm behind also. i just did the first one and thought the same thing about both of those answers.
  8. Mine came with batteries already in it. Three AAA batteries included.
  9. I am trying to organize myself and I have a question for all of you already in the program or any of you starting with me that may know. Is Dosage Calc and IV calc taught in our Nursing Techniques class? Is Medical Terminology taught in our Nursing Concepts class?
  10. melanie. this is awful news. you are such a wonderful woman with a lot of drive. just know that it is never the final say. i know you will make it happen if not this semester than next.
  11. Hey I just got home from getting all my books and I think I missed one. What does the front cover of the Laboratory & Diagnostic Tests with Nursing Implications look like? I am going to hate to have to drive out to North campus again for one book if I am missing it. Thanks
  12. I just saw that and am feeling even more pressure now. I am starting to feel more nervous and unprepared the closer day one is. We just have to keep telling ourselves that we can and will get through these 4 semesters. I am picking up my box with the books today and know that is going to overwhelm me even more. I am feeling very defeated today and I need to turn this around STAT! That always makes me feel better when I get to say STAT.
  13. So I am starting to freak out about having no life for 4 semesters. I need to get outside as much as possible for the next two weeks before I am stuck inside studying. I have planned a trip to the Jax Beach pier for fishing, a reggae sunday at the couch house, a suns game, a night at urban golf, and a river cruise in st. Augustine. I hope after all those days I will be refreshed for classes to start. I was so excited and suddenly I am just extremly nervous for it all to start.
  14. Did you guys that looked at your blackboard community info pay for your classes already? When I click on any of the document info to try and print it, it gives me a message that says Access to the specified resource () has been forbidden. Any one else having this problem or know how I can fix it?
  15. Congrats! I live off st. johns Bluff so we are not to far away from each other. I'm so happy for you that you are in!
  16. whew! i'm glad that is over. that 10 min to pick a schedule was soooooo stressful i wish we would have had more time. i am not one that makes rash decisions like that. i'm in session 1, is anyone else in 1 or 2? i had to go back to work so i don't know if you all went to panera or not, but it was great meeting some of you today.
  17. I'm all for the green dot sticker on our shirt. I don't have a black shirt that I could wear.
  18. I second did we decide to do anything that distinguishes all nurses because I really want to meet all of you. I am excited to meet some new friends going in the same direction as I am. My sister graduated from FCCJ RN program four years ago and works with and is still friends with some of the girls from school. You have all really helped with this whole process and easing my stress. I was also wondering do we need to have the skills kit picked up before orientation? My car broke again and I am not sure I will be able to find a way to get it by Thursday.
  19. Your parents would have to make less than $25hr combined for you to qualify. So if they make ore than that I don't think worksource will be an option for you. But, congrats on the bright future, mine expired because it has been so long since I graduated from high school.
  20. I sure it is not a surprise considering my All nurses name that my name is Amber. I can't wait to meet you all very soon.:)
  21. I got my uniform today and they look pretty cute. I got the elastic band pants and they fit kind of weird but I guess they are scrubs. I like the little zipper on the top. It is all becoming real, YEAH!
  22. I got lasik about eight months ago and it was the best thing I have ever done for myself. You are going to love it. Are you getting traditional lasik or PRK? My doctor said I could wear make-up after 2 days just not eye make-up for at least a week. Which was fine as long as I could wear Powder and bush. I freaked out after my surgery because the moon that night was blurry and it looked like spikes were coming out of it, but everything went back to normal so there was no need for me to be so scared. I asure you everything will be fine. Message me if you have any concerns after the surgery and just want another person who has been though before. Congrats!
  23. I was planning on wearing white jeans and a grey and white top. I want to just wear dark jeans but I thought might be a little to undressy to meet these higher up people in the nursing department. What do you think? Jeans with a nice top ok? I would say alot of people will be wearing a black top I know it is a staple in my wordrode that I wear alot.
  24. These are going to be the longest eight days of my life. I just hope that in eight days at orientation we also get our schedules, I really need to plan my work schedule. I am hoping more of the classes will be hybrid because of the new nursing director. I think that would really help with gas and time.
  25. My chemistry teacher used it in his in classroom class. I took it online. The way he explained it was by the students using it during lectures the teachers recording the students responses and it made it more interactive for the student. I don't know I kind of feel like it is to make sure that your attention has not drifted off somewhere else. http://www.iclicker.com/
