Help with Nclex preparation
I did about 40 questions a day once I reached "burn out" mode. The reason I did this because I still had to review the rationales and that takes time because you want to understand why you got an answer wrong. If I felt like doing more questions, I would. Your scores will get better as you go along but if you are burnt out trying to do 100 questions a day, you won't be able to focus on what you're doing.

For those that couldn't afford Kaplan's review course... there's hope :-)
Hello all, I just recently passed my NCLEX, YAYYYYY!!!! God is SOOOO good! I had about 20 SATA, a few math calc, a few exhibits and a couple of drag and drops. I was nervous because I felt like I should've had more SATA based on what I read on here. My test stopped at 75 questions and I felt sick to my stomach. The drive home was the longest drive of my life! I went straight in the house and tried the PVT trick and got the good pop up, but honestly, I didn't feel completely happy until I saw the official result! I was so excited to find out that I can officially call myself an R.N.!!! This website was VERY imformative and it was great to know I wasn't alone in my worries. The main reason for this post is during my study time, I kept seeing posts on people taking the Kaplan review course and how the course can guarantee you will pass. Well, I could NOT afford the class after spending 550 to take the NCLEX. I started to get discouraged because I started to feel I HAD to take this course to pass. I studied for four hours a day for 3 weeks before my test date. I focused on the areas I struggled with in nursing school first then started doing a bunch of questions. Kaplan's book was GREAT on helping me figure out my weaknesses on answering questions and Saunders was GREAT on content. So if you are like me and have financial struggles, there is hope to still get good study material for less. So here is what I studied with: Kaplan's 2012-2013 Strategies book Saunders 5th edition (for review of content) Allnurses study guide (good stuff!) I was able to get through the Kaplan book twice and felt the Kaplan questions were very close to NCLEX. The Saunders questions were pretty easy but the break down of content was great for me. Good luck to those taking the exam in the future!!! Now on to the job hunt :/

Sorry SAI191 for the late response, I applied at Glendale Community College and was picked up today after a year and a half wait. I"m doing the phlebotomy program at the skill center right now, we started the lab this week and I really like it so far.

Who has taken the HESI??
That book you brought from Border's is the study guide I had. I also had a Kaplan Math for nurses book that I also bought from Borders. The vocab terms in the study guide gave you an idea of what's on the test but of course those words won't be on there. I would suggest a medical terminology book, not necessarily buying one but checking one out in the libarary. There were about 51 vocab words but like I said, it's not as bad as you think. If you read the sentence you can do a process of elimination of choosing the correct word.

Maricopa skills or Southwest skills center??
The study guide was helpful for me, I mainly used it for the math but I skimmed through the rest of the guide and some of it was helpful for the other sections.

Who has taken the HESI??
The math and reading sections were similar, the grammar and vocab didn't seem too similar to what I studied in the guide. But at the same time I mainly studied the math section because that was the only section I worried about.

Who has taken the HESI??
I just took it today and it was more user friendly than the NET. I was able to use the calculator and scrap paper. The study guide helped me out on all the subjects except the vocabulary but that section was the least of my worries :-) I received an 84 on the reading, 88 on the math, 88 on grammar and 86 on the vocab.. Those were the only sections required and I took it at Glendale Community College.
