  1. Hi...thx for the tips fr orientation. I went to the bookstore today and they had everything in stock. The first person at the bookstore had no clue where they were and the next guy directed me towards the register. I am doing clinicals at Casa de Campana. Yeah not excited about getting a rolling backpack.
  2. Hi Christine, congrats to you too!! I bought all of my books on Amazon. You can sign up w/Amazon prime and get the free 2day shipping. I'm assuming the pamphlets are at the bookstore? I just bought my uniform & labcoat at that place in Escondido that was in our packet...they'll do the patches & seam binding for u (but it costs $15 ea). Anyways sooo anxious to start. Have you bought everything else?Bejuled...anything we missed at orientation? I was just briefed in the nursing office. I am in Carlsbad...but not far fr Palomar. What about u?
  3. Hey...congrats! I am really excited to start but already feel overwhelmed since I was accepted for the Spring last minute. Were you at the orientation a few mths ago?
  4. Hi, Was wondering if anyone starting this Spring at Palomar lives in Carlsbad? Palomar just contacted me last week to say I can start...needless to say I'm rushing around to get everything finished to begin. Would love to talk to someone who was at the Oct orientation. Thank you!!
  5. thank you...good luck to you too. be prepared because it could go pretty quickly, i didn't think i would start until next Fall.
  6. Yes it's still showing, so technically everyone has moved up...what # are you? They had emailed a mth ago saying there was a slight possibility I could start in the Spring and then yesterday they told me a spot had opened. Needless to say I'm rushing to get everything that is required finished soon. Good luck to you...if you're close to my #, then most likely you'll start in the Fall!
  7. Thx...it's been quite the wait. I am currently #29 on the list.
  8. Hey everyone, Finally got the confirmation that I'm in for Spring 2012!! So excited, but obviously missed the orientation. In a major rush to prepare...it's just around the corner!
  9. Congrats to you!! How exciting to finally know when you're starting...I haven't heard anything, but I still have a ways to go. Good luck to you, I've only heard good things about the Palomar nursing program :)
  10. Yeah I have no idea how we were given our waitlist #'s. No I haven't applied to any other programs since Palomar is the closest and I didn't think I would be getting in any quicker to other CC's. I struggled between CC programs and the accelerated 2nd bachelor programs that would get me in quicker. I just couldn't imagine spending $40K plus for another bachelor's degree. Good luck to you! Chrissybear: congrats on getting into the program, hopefully you get in quicker. It's totally possible that others may decline before this Fall. I agree, I may apply again through the new process. But I have a 5mth old that I would like to be at least 2 before I put him in daycare. So the wait may work a little better for me.
  11. Nope haven't heard anything else....yes I took the TEAS back in September. It wasn't all that bad..you just have to use the TEAS study guide. The questions are exactly like the actual test. How long have you been on the waitlists? It's been exactly 2 yrs for me.
  12. Hi all, Was wondering if anyone is on the current waitlist for Palomar College in San Marcos? I just contacted them to see if they could give me a rough estimate for a start time (I'm in the low 100's) and they couldn't. Has anybody else had any luck? Thanks!
  13. I am taking the TEAS in Sept...they seem to fill up quickly. Anyways does anybody know what the schedule will be like for the program? I saw it posted here awhile back and can't seem to find it. Just want to start planning ahead of time for childcare and stuff....
  14. I know, I am eager to begin as well. I'm going to start looking into CNA programs in SD cty. All of the community college programs always get filled up so quick. No I'm just applying to Palomar. I'm pretty sure all of the other schools in SD have a similar wait and Palomar is the closest to me. I'm excited that there'll be a brand new facility when we're there though! Have you taken the TEAS yet? I guess they say we should do it by this Fall.
  15. hey lisajule22, i'm also on the palomar wait list around the 200's as well. i was thinking of going for my cna as well, where did you end up going for that -if you don't mind me asking? i've only heard good things about the RN program at Palomar, but i know it'll be a tough 2 yrs! :)
  16. i decided not to go the LVN route and am now on a wait list for an RN program. but going the LVN route definitely will get you working sooner. i've only heard good things about the grossmont rop program. good luck!
  17. hi karalisa25, congrats on getting accepted! i hear that the program is pretty intense, but you do get breaks at the holidays. when i met w/azusa to go over my transcripts it sounded like you get a lot of support from peers and teachers-which is so important. i'm sure the 15mos will fly by and before you know it you'll be done. yeah i don't know about getting the dogs since they can be a lot of work in the beginning, but on the other hand taking walks could be your little breaks in-between school and studying... i have a toddler so i'm thinking of maybe waiting to apply to the program. but i still need that ochem/biochem and dev psych sooo that'll give me time. do you know if the reviewing processes come up the same time every year? thanks for all the info!! and good luck this fall.
  18. hi everyone, i'm hoping to get into Azusa's accelerated bsn program for the Jan2010 cohort. for those of you who have applied and got accepted-what factor do you think got you in? after my initial interview w/Azusa i know that getting all A's in the core prereq's is key. but do you think your essay and 3 recommendation letters weighed pretty heavily? just trying to get an idea...i was pondering going into an LVN program this fall-but then i couldn't do the Azusa thing next Jan. so many options....
  19. hi lbug4, it took me awhile to figure this one out too..but you have to post at least 15 times (i think) before you can PM. i will go ahead and PM you my email because i most likely will take that course. thx!
  20. i just called re: this program and they told me everything has to be finished by June 09. so you can apply beforehand...app deadline is Jan 09. i'm looking to start the health essentials course in the spring.
  21. thank you soooo much....i'm going to look into that and see if it will satisfy.
  22. hi, was wondering if anyone in SD county knows of a school that allows taking just the labs only and not the lecture? thanks:wink2:
  23. great thanks...i'll definitely let you know how it is in the spring. good luck with all of your classes. btw does it matter which "home" college you choose?
  24. hi sand dollar, am thinking of taking micro through ccconline in the spring. was wondering how many weeks your class was? thanks!
  25. so i have an appt on tuesday with the azusa to look over all of my transcripts...how are your clinicals going? the one thing that my ADN-RN friends have told me is that they liked getting the hands-on right away and they felt the BSN programs was more "book work". how are your clinicals going? i'm thinking that being accelerated it may be a little different. thanks so much for you input-i know you must be super busy with school!
