Hi everyone, I just graduated in December and passed my boards in January. (yay!) I work at a local hospital and have been on orientation for a little over a month. I am up to a full load of patients and have been very happy with my job except for a few nurses that I run into at shift change. I try to just blow off their attitude but it does make me wonder sometimes why these nurses have such a hatred attitude. It makes me wonder if I should stay working at this area of the hospital or if I should look to change to a different location. I sure hope that they are not all like this lol. I guess my worse fear is turning into them .. I have been yelled at by one nurse at shift change (in front of the patients family) because of a medication that I was waiting on from pharmacy had not been sent up for the new patient. I had called pharmacy twice to remind them that it was late and I needed the med.. not sure what else I could have done. The second nurse I had an issue with was because a pt was being admitted right at shift change. I did a full assessment and charted what I assessed and had the medications already entered in the computer and made sure the patient and family were comfortable. The admissions and calling the doctor for orders is all that was left. This nurse barely made eye contact with me and when she did she made me feel like I was dumping a load on her on purpose. Has anyone else had this problem?
