  1. They said we should be seeing them soon. But what they say and do are 2 different things. I tried to call an advisor, but no one ever calls you back. I am just curious how the deferment process works. If I defer, I get in the next semester, yes?
  2. Yes, I do. I have a chance to meet some very inspirational people who have helped me get through some difficult times in my life, and I do not want to miss this one bit. If that means waiting 4 more months, so be it.
  3. There is a weeek-long trip I am taking in September. What happens if I have to defer?
  4. Ok, so the next logical question to ask (if it was not already) is when are they running placements for the Fall semester? If I don't get out of this rediculous job I am in I think I might go nuts. I think I am dur for Fall. I have a low October 2007 time stamp.
  5. How did you find out you are in that group?
  6. I appreciate that, but I need to be realistic here- not negative mind you... realistic. If I am thinking correctly, since the last slot was October 22nd, 2008 @ 08:00:09 and my date/timestamp is October 22nd, 2008 @ 08:03:02, while considering that a person= 1 second of time, that puts oh... something like 173 slots ahead of me... there aren't that many partnership slots. Furthermore, with the economy the way it is, isn't there talk of less programs within MCCCD? There might be less seats. Again, just being real with myself here.
  7. Well then... I again have lost out and am stuck in my miserable job for 9 more months. :hlk: When do they run placements for the fall?
  8. They are running placement right now... good luck to all.
  9. Ok, thanks! Does anyone else have any info to add to this???
  10. I don't understand how that all works... can you explain this to me? Hospital seats? I don't want to get my hopes up, but it would make my day!!!
  11. Mine is 10/22/07 at 08:03:02 AM. Crossing my fingers, but not holding my breath. All of the sites that I have on my placement list have openings.
  12. Ditto. This is getting really, really, really old.
  13. I appreciate your candor, and I also appreciate your comments. You clearly have more experience with the subject than I do... while you have all very valid points, I still think that there must be a better way to get things better prepared for folks interested in nursing. Thanks for the great info! I apppreciate it.
  14. It does, but the law of averages is in our favor. The thing we need to consider are those with the timestamps before us that are selecting the schools with lower capacities, and are only choosing one school since they need a weekend/ accelerated program. That is why there are timestamps ahead of us who are not in yet. That is why I am just choosing the ones with the most available slots. Here is my thought- Bottom line... MCCCD needs to change their admissions protocol tree ways: 1) Have a higher GPA requirement. Their requirements in no way get you ready for a BSN. This does not set anyone up for success. I personally feel like I might be wasting time right now, and I am taking classes for my BSN while I am on this fun waiting list. 2) Up the prerequisite courses, include Patho, etc. The drop-out rate is dumb, and those of us who can handle the work miss out. 3) Have something like a mandatory 2-day nursing workshop that requires applicants to see what they are really going to be doing. Some have no idea what they will really be doiing. CNA's are not the only tush-wipers, urine-moppers and barf-cleaners. This should be graphic at times like a driver's education class in high school. Look at all of those people who wait to get into Rad Tech school to do Ultrasound... They think it is a cushy, cutsie little gig... they don't have a clue about the math, etc. that is involved. They think that they are going to "wook at the snuggwy-wuggwy wittle baby-wabies all day wong." I have heard that more times than I care to. People who haphazzardly choose a career like that mess things up for those who really want this. I think the above things will help deter some from applying or entering the programs offered at MCCCD. Either because they can't do the work, handle the workload, or don't want to do the work the field requries. Call me extreme, crazy, whatever... but I hear about dropouts, etc. And I keep thinking that I could be sitting in their seat right now. I hope I made some of you laugh a little with my rants on this website.
  15. I don't see how that is possible. October to October is12 months alone. It doesn't make sense. If we are still in the 9-12 month bracket, then we still have a chance of not getting in for Fall of 2009. How is that possible?
  16. I am thinking that my chances are still a longshot, but I figure, what the heck... and I'll tell ya, if I do get placed, I am going to be the happiest dude on the planet. If you hear a obnoxiously loud cheer of joy, that was just me. Don't panic. :roll I did change one of my choices from Gateway 4 semester to Phoenix accelerated since Gateway had one slot, while Phoenix accelerated had 3. So I have 20 chances. Does anyone know if they cleared out those who didn't respond yet? Wouldn't that make more slots?
  17. My timestamp is 10/22/2007, at 08:03:02 AM. My choices are: Choice 1: Glendale CC 4 Semester Traditional Choice 2: Mesa CC - Boswell 4 Semester Traditional (Sun City) Choice 3: Phoenix College 4 Semester Traditional Choice 4: Mesa CC 4 Semester Traditional Choice 5: GateWay CC 4 Semester Traditional The way I see it, I am at least in the 12-15 month bracket. What this says to me is that if I don't get in through deferrals, it will be in the fall for sure. When is the "Spring placement?" When is the next time they do placements? How many times per year do they do that?
  18. I guess that is good news considering I can't get an interview to save my life. Can anyone please give me a STRAIGHT ANSWER as to what they look for on BNFP applications? What are the general criteria? This is honestly making me crazy and is making me feel like I suck or something. LOL I have a bachelor's, am prior military, my NET scores were well above the mark, I have a game plan for childcare, financial atability, I have my pre-req's done. The only thing I can think that is holding me up is my GPA (I got C's in BIO 201, 202, and 205) I am even taking CHM130, CFS205, and Pathophysiology to bring that up... since I need them for a BSN. I am not just stopping at an RN. I want to be a FNP. I also want to work in pediatric oncology. This isn't a game for me, nor is it a chance for a free ride or guaranteed employment. I can get that on my own. I am confident of that. Would I take advantage of the opportunity? Of course... But do I need it to suceed? Certainly not. I just know I could do a great job. I prefer Banner over any other system of hospitals (my second choice is JCL), my children were born there, I have experienced first hand what they are all about, and I mostly appreciate what they consider to be important in so far as core values. I wrote all of this in my essays. I even wrote the folks at Banner to see what I could improve on to even get an interview. I never heard back. I am the kind of person who always "finds a way" around an obstacle. But this time, I am seriously at a loss.
  19. Yeah it is funny... if you go to the application status page, it tells you that they have no information on what is going on with your BNFP after they have sent it, then the message provides you with an email address. On the other hand, if you go to the Banner website and look up the BNFP program, it tells you to contact the MCCCD office if you have questions regarding the application. That is a little convenient, ya think? Talk about passing the buck. Maybe they should revisit their methods on communicating about the application process. It makes me think that the applications I have sent might have been received late and not even reviewed due to that. Who knows. Since I have moved to AZ, I have not been all that impressed with the overall work ethic of people. I really have a hard time trusting anyone. But, I am going to keep trying. I am the only part of the equation that I have control of changing when it comes to my goals.
  20. I thought the October folks would be next. We are past the 9-12 month mark, so it would have to be us next. Yes?
  21. :angryfire Wow... passed over again. That is awesome. I have applied three times and cannot get an interview. I even emailed them to see if I would be able to speak with someone about what I am doing wrong. I have a bachelor's, I am taking BSN prerequisites, I have a plan for childcare and finances, I am ready to go. I worked and worked to get my essays done, and I cannot believe I can even get an interview. Do they think I smell? I'm ugly? Dumb? What am I doing wrong??? I think I deserve a chance like everyone else. My GPA is not awesome, but I passed the classes I need to get into the MCCCD programs like they wanted, I did very well on the NET test... GEEZ! AT LEAST THREE APPLICATIONS NOW... AND NOTHING. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!! (yes, I am pretty mad about this ). I just want to do it more now. I tried to make this funny too... I am not all that mad about it. I know I will get in somewhere somehow. I have an Oct 22nd, 2007 datestamp, with a timestamp of 08:03:02AM. I am pretty sure I will make the cut for Fall of 2009. But I really like Banner. Their students seem like they have it together. Can anyone help me?
  22. This link might provide you with some good info about that. https://hceweb.maricopa.edu/CFIDE/do...cementWtBd.cfm
  23. What I am wondering is when the next go-round is going to be... is there a summer semester for MCCCD to attend? Do they choose people to get in then as well? Or are those who have not been picked waiting for fall? If so, when do they place people for that run? I have an Oct. 22, 2007 @ 08:03:02 AM. What do you all think? Do you think I will get in for fall 09? :icon_roll
  24. Don't get me wrong, it is great that us busy people can get our lab sciences done online, but it is not great when you have your isntructors talk down to you. I loved my BIO 202 and 205 instructor, but absolutely wanted to chuck a rock at my BIO 201 instructor. Also, the one I had for BIO 202 initially was a creep as well. He was very rude and condescending. I transferred out the same day and was put into a different section immediately. When I told advisors about my issues with this sort of thing, they were not shocked at all. Again, if you like having a life do not take 2 BIO lab classes at once. You will lose your mind.
  25. The whole BIO department at Rio is crazy. Period. They like to thing they are your only obligation in college. Don't take more than one BIO lab class at a time. Especially at Rio. If your goal is nursing school and a BSN eventually, the grades you get in the sciences (BIO 201,202,205 and CHM130) are one of the things that will be looked at right away. Trust me, my GPA stinks up the joint because of my sciences. I am taking Chemistry to bring up my GPA and then Patho because it will help me a great deal. I am even taking the CRE101 course to help me with my NET scores. They were good, but could be MUCH better.
