  1. Hope u enjoy your preceptorship on antepartum.. right now I'm doing my preceptorship on a postpartum floor doing the same 2-3 days a week..anyways I know that our sister unit ,which is the antepartum, sometimes admit moms who miscarried or delivered early with babies in NICU...so maybe you'll be caring for these kind of patients as well if your unit does the same. From my ob rotation on antepartum, I took care of high risk pregnancy moms with mainly PIH, gestational diabetes, and pre-term labor.. There is fetal monitoring, giving medications, and keeping patient on bedrest..Hope this helps and good luck!
  2. I'm currently on a PP unit for my preceptorship and we give our moms toradol in 4 doses usually. The come down from L&D usually already having one dose and we give the remaining doses as needed with motrin and roxicet. The only thing with Toradol is that I've been told it takes a while for it to actually be effective and is probably why we give 4 doses of it..hope this helps :)

Hello everyone. This is my first post so I'm kinda of nervous. I'm doing a quality management project on my Mother baby unit dealing with the occurrence of postpartum hemorrhage on my unit and protocols. Just wondering what is the blood loss (# of pads, amount of blood in cc's, etc) in a shift(8 hr or 12 hr) indicative of postpartum hemorrhage on your particular unit (for comparison). Also what are your units protocols dealing with and preventing PPH. Any help will be greatly appreciated :)
  5. Well I still live at home and it really helps since I'm in nursing school and my current job doesn't pay enough for me to be able to live on my own... I think that it might add more stress since you'll have to worry about paying rent if you're not making enough money to do so yet... But I suggest you do what you think is best for you at this time :)...Hope all turns out well girl;)
  6. Hey orangesky!!! I'm new to this so this is my first post but I just want to encourage you to go on... I know you can do it. I too am in my last year of an RN program and I know it is getting really tough now...But I know you can do it. I don't have any kids but I know several people that have kids in the program that are excelling at the top of program so hang in there :)...I hope this helps :)
