  1. yeah your right, i was told during my orientation that the type you wanted to be when you first started the program will pretty much change when you leave and start working...i guess i'm just not sure what to expect through the 2 year of schooling and then working...what am i preparing for during those 2 years of schooling...just a general nurse? sounds obvious i guess. (i have yet to start btw)
  2. yes, striclty points NO EXCEPTION at all...maybe if you had the same points as another student then they would decide upon you based on who has the highest average gpa but other than that it is PURELY points. Compass test was a breeze (although i've taken calculus so i'm a bit bias). You will do well in the algebra section if you review...there are plenty of sample tests and if you do well on there then you will most defin. do well on the compass (not making any promises though). some questions include find the value of y for example, y=4x x=2 so, y=4(2)=8 and some other stuff such as y=mx + b and so forth...so if you can do those stuff then theoretically you should be good.
  3. omg ty ty ty for directing me to this forum...i hope it gives in depth day to day experience of each position!!!
  4. kind off topic, but didn't want to open up another post....is there a gym at shoreline? specifically a weight lifting room
  5. ty so much your post was very helpful!
  6. I kno i kno go shadow but there's so many types of nurses it boggles the mind. Can you give me an insight on your positions? I'm a guy so statistically what types of position do guy usually take (key word statistically)?
  7. I'm attending shoreline this coming spring 09 and I was wondering what are the first timer schedule is like? The reason for the inquiry is because i like to keep my job. Are first quarter students classes all done in the morning and get out mid afternoon? Any informatin will be helpful!
  8. i got 112.9...see you this spring quarter!!!
  9. thankyou for all of your advices!!! i think i'm going to go to nursing school first, and pray that my mind for biochem doesn't dwindle too fast in two years :)
  10. I hear what you are saying thanks for the advice. I have volunteer at the uw nursing unit on 6 floor for quite a while so i have a good feel. Also i worked for a family whom i help take care of their grandma. I just feel like i should not leave un-finish business behind, but everyone tells me to just go with the program, and there not that easy to come by since its getting more competitive. BTW, i can finish my biochem in 2 quarter, but i decided to take summer quarter to make autumn and winter a lighter load which is still a normal load for a student (3 classes vs 2). I need more response! i feel like i can't make a sound decision even though the person i should be asking is really myself! your input really helps thank you!
  11. Hi, i am new to the forum, glad to meet you all. So i have a problem, i got accepted to shoreline community college nursing school in seattle washington, but after accepting them I began to feel that I should finish my biochemistry degree before going to nursing school. As a result, i am torn between calling them back and telling them i dont want to attend their program and finish up my biochemistry. It will take my 3 quarter summer, autumn, and winter. ANy advice?! I was thinking that the pros of doing this is i would be able to apply to a university again and i would have my major completed. Furthermore, i dont need to go back to school for a year to get a BSN since community college only offer AA. And if i do accept their offer and after graduating i still need to go back to school to get my BSN and BA in biochemistry! The cons are very clear which is losing hte spot and i must reapply. And i'm pretty sure as the years goes by it gets progressivly harder to get into any nursing school. I got rejected from University of washington and Seattle U, but i can't help but think i can reapply plus finish my major...or should i just take this offer! i'm sooo at a lost!
