  1. Same here. As well with people's dentures in. I don't know what it is just makes me gag. Shannon
  2. Oh yeah, I live in Central PA. I ended getting and full time job and doing agency just on the weekends. I have to money. Canceling was driving me crazy. Come Jan. when the holidays are over they will be needing people again. I will be like so sorry can not help you.Take care Shannon
  3. Actually I just accepted a day position at a call center for the main medical doctors here in town. Granted I will only make $10.50/ hour compared to 19-23/ here. But it is steady work and I will get 40 a week. In the last two weeks I have worked 24 hours (3 shifts) which averaged out to $4.80/hour( if average over 80 hours which I could have worked if the hours were available). Don't worry this too shall pass. Take care and good luck finding another job. shannon
  4. My test stopped at 85 questions and I have been an LPN for almost 2 and half years. Take a breather. Everyone thinks they failed. It will no good to stress out about it. Too bad you have to wait three weeks. We had ours in one week at the longest. Shannon
  5. I have three kids 13 (boy), 9( girl) and 2 (boy). The older two could probably stay home but with dad but the youngest probably not. Do many camps allow you to bring young children with you? I am in the central PA area. Thanks Shannon
  6. Well um, I am a very mature person. I don't care for nursing homes nor will I ever. I did not call her a duffus to her face. And it wasn't my recruiter it was the office manager. I was very upset when I wrote that post. My office manager doesn't have a lick of medical background. I tell had to tell was a PEG was. Come now.... Think what you wanna think. As I always say You can not make everyone happy. Shannon
  7. Just finished taking my test. I got 80 out of 100. I can retake it if I want. But I had to 80%. So why screw it up. Shannon
  8. I had to write up why I thought I made the med error and what I could do to prevent in the future. Ok typed that up on Monday took it to the office. Talked to a RN from corp. on Monday. I was suppose to get a med error test via email. I did not get on Tuesday so I called the office. They said it could take 24-48 hours. Well it is now Thursday and no test. I called the office and they have no involvement in it. So they are calling corp. The office manager is a duffus. She said "Well it is ok because you aren't schedule anywhere." I was like ok smarty pants I basically take call offs places when they call off sick so wonder I don't have hours. :angryfire Shannon
  9. Got a call from my agency stating that a facility does not want to return. Due to the fact I had a med error (mind you I reported it. Not to cover it up) and the staff complained that I did not do anymore then I had to do. That I would not learn anything new. Heck when you say I would love to show how to do admits but I have nine to do and cannot show you how. How in the hell am I suppose to? Now I am on call basically for FREAKING nursing homes. It is just not my thing. I just checked my email and I had an interview for a home nursing and they said they found someone for the position. So freaking double whammy on my part. I already take meds for depression an HTN. This just isn't gonna help these. Thanks for listening I am in tears typing this. I feel like a failure at nursing. Shannon:cry:
  10. First off, congrats on passing your boards . Secondly anything new is scary. Just take things one day and one thing at a time. Don't be afraid to ask questions. It is the only way to learn. Take care Shannon
  11. Well, I do have an application in at the hospital. But the pay is even less there. Nursing homes are just not for me. I have done them with the agency. And here in PA they have mandated over time. And with three kids it is hard just to stay over four hours. This is the big home nursing agency in town. Doctor's offices pay almost nothing here. Thanks for you in sight. Shannon
  12. Right now I am working for an agency. I had a job interview on Wednesday for Home nursing. I have a made list of differences. MSN (current agency): 1. flexible scheduling 2. pay $19-$22/hr 3. maybe 5 shifts a wk but maybe 1 or 2 depending on the week Home Nursing (possible new job): 1.For sure 37.5/per wk 2. Sick days 3. Six holidays per yr 4. Personal days 5. pay 15.30/hr 6. .40/per mile for gas So do I take the pay cut and get the for sure hours? Or do I tough it out with agency and see hours get better? I am considering maybe working home nursing and working for MSN one day a week too. I have not been offered the job yet. But I am still debating it. Any thoughts ??????? Shannon

  14. What I find that helps me with the accu checks is, I open( just tear open not out of the package) all my swabs put them in a small cup, get all the my cotton balls put them in a cup, prep my lancets put them in a cup, and put my test strips I need in a small cup. So when I am going down the hall all I have to do is take one cotton ball from the cotton ball cup, one swab from the swap, lancet already set from its cup and the strip from its cup. So it saves me the time of opening multiple packages and prepping the lancets at EVERYONE bedside. Hope that wasn't too confusing. Take care Shannon
  15. Ok what if they have a fluid, let's say NSS at 125. And you have to run levaquin as an IVPB. I spike the antibiotic the first time and prime the line. When I give another dose do I have to let what is in the line run out or can I simply start the antibiotic? I heard that what is in the tubing is comtamiated (sp?). Thanks Shannon
