Native Intelligence and LPN
Hi elkpark! Thank you for your prompt response. Yes, it happens to be a for-profit institution that has regional accreditation here in the Charlotte, North Carolina area. The school molds great nurses, and their programs are top notch. I haven't had any students complain about the institution, however, it's quite the contrary: many students praise the instructors and faculty for helping their students achieve success in their chosen path.

Nursing school ?'s
Hello, and thank you for viewing this message. I am interested in becoming an LPN, I have an IQ of about 97, no real learning disabilities and have a strong desire to make a change in my personal and professional life. Currently, I am 30 years old, I have no children and am fully ready to commit to the amount of dedication, studying and learning required to become an LPN. For about ten years now, I have procrastinated and put of school until this LPN program at a local college started contacting me, inquiring about my interest in the program. With my 'average range' I.Q., would I make a good candidate to the program; I have already passed the required TEAS (entrance exam for nursing students) test. My goal is to help those who're suffering, and to provide those people in hospice with the quality loving care that they deserve. This is my passion. Was nursing school for you a real challenge? Also, are you an LPN or an RN? Would you consider me to be of average IQ for someone that's already been accepted into an LPN program, and would the fact that I have a slight mental disorder preclude me from successfully completing the said program?

How hard is LPN school?
I have been out of school for 11 years, and the idea of nursing school sounds daunting; how hard is the schooling to become an LPN.

Schizophrenia and nursing
Consulted with the NCBON, and was told it wouldn't be a problem. All applicants are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, regardless of criminal records or substance abuse issues (according to the ADA laws). Thanks for all of your help.

ECPI college Charlotte admissions/clinical site
Hi. I have a misdemeanor for disorderly conduct dating back to January 2005. I only spent four days in jail and was released to my own recognizance. Will ECPI-Charlotte be able to find a clinical site for their diploma program in LPN, despite my misdemeanor from 10 years ago? I have already been accepted to their program, and will be starting soon. I already called the state BON, and they said it wouldnt be an issue to take the NCLEX-PN and get licensed in NC. It would seem a little bit odd that I could get licensed, but the school wouldn't be able to find a clinical site for me.../ What are your thoughts? thanks!!

Are Clinical Nursing skills teachable?
My physician thinks I should study something relatively easy, not too challenging. I am a male in my mid twenties with Low T (Low Testosterone), and due to that I suffer, and take meds for, depression and anxiety. I plan on taking replacement therapy for the Low T. However, I'm interested in becoming a nurse; after taking the Wechsler IQ test, i scored 110. I'm not stupid, nor smart, just of slightly above average IQ. Long story short: I want to become a nurse, yet my doctor thinks I can pass the nursing classes but would have difficulty with the Clinical Nursing instruction (and skills) of the program. Is it possible to be book smart and still have trouble learning the clinical aspects of nursing? Dedication, motivation and ambition are some of the words that describe my work ethic, and I am eager to learn. Can I still become a nurse?

Could someone of average IQ become an ADN nurse?
In your opinion, do I hold a chance at becoming a nurse with an IQ of 105, and a strong work ethic?

Nursing licensure in North Carolina
I have a conviction stemming back from 2005 for misdemeanor disorderly conduct in the state of North Carolina for making a threat to shoot up my high school. Since then, I haven't been arrested or even gotten a ticket from the police. Can I still become an R.N.?

Average IQ of a BSN nurse
My IQ's about 110-115, and yes, the question is ambiguous. But would someone of my intellect be able to handle the BSN nursing curriculum, be able to pass, do clinicals and still be able to pass the NCLEX-RN, if they're motivated enough? I'm not smart, just average. What's truely required of a pupil to advance to graduation, become licensed and be hired? Maybe that's a less arbitrary was of putting it... PS. I got expelled my senior year, four months from graduation, dropped out and finish at a CC. Yet I wasn't a very sharp student. Will a nursing degree help to redeem me (another stupid question)?

Average IQ of a BSN nurse
In your professional opinion, what's the average IQ of a BSN nurse? Could, say, someone of average to slightly above average IQ become a nurse?

Can I still go to school/get hired?
:yeah:When I was a senior in high school I made an ominous threat to shoot up the school, and had absolutely no intention of doing so; subsequently I was arrested and pled guilty to disorderly conduct and spent 4 days in jail. If I have this expunged (or not), can I still get hired as a CRNA?

Admission into Carolinas College of Health Sciences Pre-Nursing program?
I graduated from Central Piedmont Community College's Adult high school program in 2006 at the age of 19. I know that I did not have a 3.09 GPA required for admission into the pre-nursing program at CCHS. I do however have the required SAT scores, so can I still be admitted, or what are my other alternatives? Thanks, Simon W.
