Hello fellow TN residents. My G/f actually used to go to Columbia and was on the mile long waiting list. You should REALLY look in to the Motlow Nursing Program. I go there now and I am a pre nursing student. I just attended a seminar a couple weeks ago and this comes from two Motlow grads who hosted the seminar and got jobs right after graduation at Vandy, Hospitals are hiring Motlow nursing grads over any other program. Last time I read up on it we have the highest first time NCLEX pass rate in TN at 97%. That was almost 6 months ago so it could have changed by now. We have 5 Diff. campuses to attend which makes it convenient and we admit 70 nurses per year, no waiting list. Our program is small and from what ive heard our nursing profs. are VERY good!!! If you have any questions or if anyone does let me know and I will answer what I can. Im still taking pre-reqs so i cant answer much about the actual program because I am not there yet, but I will do what I can. I hope this is helpful. And good luck.

I start Med Term online and have heard very good things about the class. I dont think of class can compare to A&P or Micro lol. Im not worried about it at all I dont think you should either. My A&P study group met in the lab almost daily for 2-6 hours each session lol I highly doubt we will have to do that for Med Term. Hey there. Just like everyone has mentioned, while it wont make A&P EASY, it will slightly help. Like someone said before me it will help with word roots and what not. I JUST finished my 2nd a&p and the only instance I can recall in the whole semester that having med term helped my study group was while we were learning the elements of blood. One member who had just taken Med Term recalled that Platlets are called Thrombocytes, and a blood clot is reffered to as a Thrombosis. So one way we learned to remember Thrombocytes is that the Thrombocytes form a Thrombosis. I know this is a long and drawn out way of saying it, but there are little ways med term can help you with A&P, but its not going to make the class much easier. It is a required for us to take Med Term here in TN. But even if I didn't have to take it I think I would anyway. Like everyone said, it can only help. I hope this has been some sort of help with a small example of how we used both classes to remember something last semester. Good luck to you. Thank You very much for the tips. I still need to set up an app. for advisment but I figured I would ask some of you guys first. I still have a while but its driving me crazy. I have never wanted anything more than I want this. Now its just a waiting game, and a studying game lol

Hello everyone! I am happy to have found this site. Everyone on here seems(for the most part) very educated and friendly, and I'm grateful for that. First of all if I am posting this in the wrong place, or if its been done a thousand times before let me apologize. I am new here and have spent 2-3 days reading threads and haven't found one exactly like mine, so here it goes lol. I am a Pre-Nursing student as of right now. I am 23 and have almost 3 years of college under my belt but never really knew what I wanted to do until about a year ago. I am trying to put together everything for my future in nursing so I can focus solely on nursing school when I get accepted(hopefully :). I have all of my English classes, histories, math, electives, psychology classes, sociology classes, and math up to college level. I just finished A&p II (with an A in there as well as the first thank goodness) and I am signed up for Dosage Cal. and Med Term. this summer and Micro Biology next semester. My school offers a VERY competitive 2-year nursing program (97% NCLEX pass rate) that I hope to be entering next fall. Upon finishing the 2 year program I would like to go back and earm my B.S.N. and I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction as far as which classes I need to get out of the way for my B.S.N. Anything I can do now and take stress off of me later I am trying to do. Because I have been in college for a few years already I have alot of classes I will be needing, I am just not sure what others to take. I was told statistics and maybe 2 years of chemistry but I am not sure. Also any Nursing students or recent grads that could give me a few pointers on some supplies I will need I am trying to buy them little by little so It's not such a big expense all at once when I enter the program. I am abuot to order a Littmann Master Cardiology( i know its too early but after reading another thread about stethoscopes Im sold lol) I also want top get a blood pressure cuff and few other things here and there.
