  1. SweetheartRN, do you think that to work in an ambulatory clinic such as yours, is it necessary for some med-surg experience? I've worked homehealth x3 years and med surg x1, and I don't like med-surg because of all reasons stated above, but I learn and experience so much of my nursing skills on the hospital floor. So, I feel a kind of despair when I tell my friends and family Med-surg is not for me. It's like I'm not living up to the expectation..you know what I mean? Sometimes, I think that, I'm young, I can still go with the riff-raff of med-surg craziness, but then I also ask myself, all this mental stress and ********--is it really worth it!?! Thank you for all the comments so far, reading it helps me feel like I'm not the only one feeling like a horrible nurse.
  2. Thanks guys! Good luck to you all too. I have pulled out the phonebook tonight too look at the LTC facilities and hospitals. Hopefully I won't come up empty handed..
  3. sorry to hear that mfr69. It sounds like you are going through a tough time. I hope things are a little better now?
  4. I was told that the Northshore's New Grad program have been discontinued until further notice... =(
  5. Thanks for the advice and support from all you new and experienced RNs!!
  6. Where are you located blondy2016h?
  7. Hello Everyone! For my sanity, tell me that I am not the only one struggling to find a nursing job in Chicago?? It's frustrating, and sad. I want to cry, but I wake up everyday telling myself that there is something out there!! Thank you..
  8. jjlopez, are they hiring new grads do you know? their website listing doesn't seem to have positions that are good for new grads?
  9. Hi, Good luck! I too am applying there, but I haven't received any responses. I was wondering if you are getting any luck?
  10. Hi! I'm a new graduate, and just passed NCLEX! I've applied to Thorek and their site asked for minimum of 2 years experience. I applied online but haven't gotten a response from them. I know they probably get high volumes of calls into the HR office, so what should I do to increase my chances of getting hired? Thanks!
  11. Has other new grads who received this passing NCLEX paper also got the application for licensure? It says I have to pay $50 to the Illinois' Division of Professional Regulation and that I can practice as an RN with "license-pending" for 3 months after my pass date. ?? How are the new nurses practicing as an RN while they've just passed their NCLEX?
  12. hey goirish, do you have any advice on the textbooks? should we purchase them? do you have any that you would like to sell?
  13. great advice here. i am also in the same situation as OP. I haven't even started my BSN program yet, but was offered the chance to go into MSN once i finish my BSN. (I am starting an accelerated BSN program and will finish BSN in 12.5 months.) Not sure if i'm ready for a master's yet either. Especially since I realize that there is so much diversity in nursing, choosing a master's specialty sounds too certain as of now. I know eventually I will want to go back and get a MSN. I just hope that I am not passing up this offer of getting an NP. I can always go back to school 3-4 years later down the road and get a MSN right? I don't have to rush it at this point in my life (I'm 24). Any more feedback or advice would be appreciated from NPss or RNs. Thanks!!
  14. very sorry to hear that celticnursechicago, but i wonder if you can refute that decision. As you worked hard and have been following deadlines, it sounds so unfair that this happened to you!! You should be able to have a say in this as well!!
  15. i'm bumping this thread, wondering if anyone who has gone through the ABSN program have any advice, 2 cents, tips to survive?
