  1. thanks for the feed back, good luck everyone!
  2. Hi everyone- I'm also anxiously waiting for March 8th, I applied for the AF Nurse Corps Critical Care specialty. Has anyone had their personal references contacted? None of mine have and it is making me even more nervous! Thanks
  3. Miloisstinky- I know this is an old thread, but I ran across it and was wondering if you could give me some more insight into AF nursing. Im currently and ICU RN and am looking to join the Air Force. I really want to travel and be a flight nurse, and I figure the Air Force would allow me to do both those things. I'm kind of nervous though as I have no experience in the military and I don't want to feel like I'm signing my life away for three years. Any feedback would be appreciated!!
  4. Azriel- I work at a Level 1 Trauma Center in a neurosurgery step down unit as a first year RN, BSN. I worked at an inner city hospital in St. Louis in the Trauma ICU for 2 and half years in nursing school as a nurse assistant and LOVED IT! I moved back to to Chicago to be by family when I graduated but I would do anything, include relocate, to work at UMMC Shock Trauma. I just applied this weekend, any suggestions for getting in with HR? Which one did you end up choosing?
  5. Hi Everyone! I am thinking of moving from Chicago to work at UMMC Shock Trauma. I currently work on a step-down neurosurgical floor and I need a change. I worked in a Level 1 Trauma ICU as a nurse aide while I was in nursing school and I MISS IT SO MUCH!! I have never lived in Baltimore or know anyone who lives there, but I love trauma and think it would be a great learning experience if I can get a job there. Any feedback from people who work there now would be greatly appreciated! Also, I keep hearing how unsafe Baltimore is....is it really that bad? I just ask because I am a single 24 year old female... Thanks everyone! -Clare
  6. Never heard back! Disapointed, but ended up getting a job at Evanston Northwestern. I would suggest applying elsewhere....I have a feeling it might be one of those places you need to "know" some one to get a job. Hope your luck is better than mine!
  7. thank all of you for alleviating some of my fears! i am taking my boards tomorrow and am prepping with kaplan. after consistently getting in the 59-75 area i broke down into tears. . after reading all the posts....i think i am going to be ok. as for kaplan, it is a great review. i started studying on my own and am so glad i decided to take this class instead. congrats to all of you who already passed and good luck to all of us getting ready to take it!
  8. I am a new grad really interested in trauma nursing and have applied at Cook County hospital on a med/surg floor. My goal is to work my way up to work on the trauma unit. I am hearing different things about getting a job there. Anyone work there currently have some insights on the application process or suggestions in general? Thanks!
