So what is the current starting pay for New Grads? Experienced RNs? These are the figures i am hearing from others: New Grads. Beamont= $25+ St Joes=$23+ St John= $26+ DMC= $24+ UoM=$27+ Please correct where i am wrong. These are base!!! What a difference!!!!!!!

Looking to move to the area and have no clue what the East,West,North,or South side neighborhoods are like. Any suggestions as to safe areas with good schools? advice of places to avoid. Thanks Y'All.

Okey nurses and LPNs, here is a question for you. Just found out a lady i worked with at my previous field (CNA) passed her PN exam and we are both excited as we decided to enhance our careers together and i went the RN route. Problem is, she had an incident and ended up taking the agency to court over an injury and well, won. they are still paying her. NOW, she has graduated LPN school and has a license and while applying for jobs, is torn between putting down former employer for a reference or not! Having taken them to court, is it permanent on her record? is she going to be able to find a job with that there? Any thoughts? advise?

Hi Michiganians, (that sounds incorrect, oh well you guys are great) I know there was a long discussion last year on the issue and i wanted to find out what you guys are hearing. i contacted the person in charge of the program and she let me know that they have run out of funds? anyone hear the same?

Hi Gina, Some questions for you. how many months of snow do you guys get? What do you like most about your city and the hosp. you work at? what is the starting wage for a BSN without experience as opposed to one with a year's experience or more? Thanks for your responses.

Hi Lisa, I actually turned down the offer to take the class this nov as i had absolutely no time to locate an apt and move as well as secure a student loan. only had two weeks to get myself situated in the detroit area which could not work at all. then came the shocker, the advisor emailed me and said they'll no longer be offering the pilot program!!!!!!!!!! i finished all my prereqs and will have been idle for a year by the time i begin next may, really sucks! c'est la vie! at least i got into a program and am thankful for that. have some friends who have not for very long! with great GPAs and excellent work histories-they have families and can't move!

Are you in Michigan? Am not familiar with a Glendale campus for OU?

Hi Huggiebear, welcome to the MI forum. i know what you are talking about when it comes to chemistry. i was lucky i took gen chem first and then organic chem and managed to do well. i don't know if i would have made it with org. before taking gen chem. work hard and you'll be fine. micro was challenging too and had people in my class who were repeats-i tell you it made me study like no one's business. Sorry can't help with your question, hopefully someone from Okla. will respond.

I think the OU in referrence is the OU in Michigan, Rochester. Right Lisa?

Hi guys, Yes i did hear back from the director. getting into the NRS281 does not guarantee being bumped up. You may be allowed to take the class earlier but it will not mean you are getting into an earlier cohort. At this point, i will take a moment to pray about it as it will be a serious decision for me.. have to leave a job and what if i don't get into the jan. cohort, rent??? car insurance??? see my point? plus i would have to move!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God help me with this one:redbeathe.

Hi Lisa, I actually posed the exact question earlier in the summer and got no response, i guess we could email hte sch. to find out. i know the SON advisor is out of the office, maybe the director can let us know. she responds very promptly to emails. Unless any admitted student reads this and lets the rest of us know.

Thanks Lisa for the infor. I asked the question about orientation and was told it will prob. be in March. I knew some people were moved ahead and have been trying to get one of the spots to start in Jan-crossing my fingers and praying. i finished all pre-reqs last winter and have to wait till next year!!!!!!!!!!!!I could have taken the NRS 281 this Fall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please join me in praying for a spot if you believe in prayer anyone, i need this seriously.
