  1. At my facility, there is no difference either. I just have an ADN and i actually make more money than my BSN friend because I had 20 yrs of healthcare experience (not nursing) and she had none. While good for me, what is the incentive to get a BSN if the facility gives you maybe .50 more an hour. To me, it's not worth it.....unless I want to go into management....or just personal gratification.
  2. All I can say is that older nurses, or should I say, more experienced nurses should always remember where they came from and that they were ONCE new nurses too. It's a crying shame how the nursing profession eats their young. And I'm sorry. I don't care how tired, stressed ect. someone is. There is no excuse for rudeness towards someone who is trying to help. The sad part is that management is ALWAYS on the side of the patient. The nurse is almost always the one in the wrong. At my facility, this simple incident would have provoked a "discussion" with my department manager. It's a shame. And although she explained her actions to the intern, did she ever apologize to you and thank you for all you do?????? Probably not.
  3. Daytonite, Love your suggestions!!! I am still looking for the perfect report sheet (even though my manager wants us to use a specific one that I hate). Thanks.
  4. Having worked as a medical assistant in primary care for the past 15 yrs and now working as an RN in a hospital, I can tell you the settings are two different animals. There are medical assistant courses you can take at the local community colleges or business schools but they will cost you and take time. Truthfully, the only good things about the office setting are no weekends, holidays, or nights. If you like variety, this isn't the place to go. It is the same thing everyday and gets old quick. Plus you will make LESS money. Private physicians will not want to pay you what you are making now and if you need benefits, that could be an issue also as most physicians cannot afford to offer the type of insurance coverage that a big facility can. Or if they do, you will pay alot for it. Just some food for thought.
