First Round placements set to run 2/22/11
good luck to all of you...I hope you are placed by your first choice. I am currently a block 1 student...I only have one suggestion...choose wisely and make sure that you can live with any one of your choices for 2 years. The program is demanding, overwhelming at times and exhausting...having to make super long drives to and from school on top of everything else makes it even more challenging. i'mdown4that: NO PROBLEM...your in girl...you have great choices! GOOD LUCK!!

Mesa Boswell Program
Don't want to intrude, but I am starting in January in the GCC weekend program and I just purchased a Littman Cardiology III steth for $158 (on sale) at Allheart.com. It was about the best deal I found, plus I needed other supplies and they were on sale. Good luck.

Glendale Weekend Program Spring 2011
NewBeginning: I would also recommend touching base with the nursing department secretary, Peggy at 623-845-3210...she can confirm and ease your mind. She has been wonderful so far. See you at orientation.

Student Careplans...Mosby, Davis, Lippincott?
Hi AM09011983...thank you for your feedback. I am going to be attending Glendale CC weekend program. Where are you attending and what block are you in? I have been kind of surfing online looking to see what kind of deals there are...I will be waiting thought to buy. Curious...have you noticed anyone using the ipad for nursing applications? I was seriously thinking about getting myself one for Christmas, but if there is no use for it in the nursing program I may just pass on that. Thanks again for your input and good luck in your endeavors. AZCodeBlue

Student Careplans...Mosby, Davis, Lippincott?
Preparing to start the nursing program in the Spring 2011 and just received my orientation packet. I am interested in getting some feedback from current students on the following items: Careplanning books - Mosby, Davis or Lippincott? Optional books listed...Is one better than the other? Laptop, ipads, smartphone - Are there benefits of one over the other? Software - Epocrates or other for reference purposes. It seems that a backpack is not appropriate for the amount of material we are required to tote around. I see quite a few students with the crate on wheels...is that the best solution to toting all the necessities? Any other helpful hints for where to purchase supplies, books, etc. prior to starting class? Thanks much for any information you can provide. Happy Holidays!

I am happy to report that I was placed today for the Spring 2011 Glendale weekend program. My date and time stamp was 06/16/2009 08:00:17. What a long wait. My name is Lezlie, married, 3 step-kids, business owner and Office Mgr for my parents business. I too have a hectic schedule and am very anxious to get the show on the road. I will continue to monitor this thread in the event we decide to meet up prior to orientation. Good luck to all and congrats!

Apollo College Associates Degree Program
I understand the frustration of the wait, I am 41 years old and feel like the clock is ticking. However, if your goal is a BSN then why not put your application in to MCC after your prereqs are done, latch on to a university advisor and work on the BSN prereqs while you wait...save a heck of alot of money and you dont have to worry about the accredidation issue. Thats what Im doing and its working out great. I would much rather contribute 40+K to a university with full accredidation than to a private college, besides who knows what schools will accept Apollo next year...times are changing and there are no guarantees. Good luck!

Is HESI Req'd to graduate?
I have read a few threads / disccusions on AllNurses about the HESI being a required exit exam, and if you do not pass it, you do not graduate; in fact the number of people that do not pass are staggering. In Arizona, for the Maricopa Community Colleges, is the HESI a required exit exam, do you have to pass in order to graduate? Thanks much, just another little thing that I hope I don't have to worry about. AZCodeBlue
