Did anyone attend the Nursing Panel Discussion at GCC?

It almost felt like that was their purpose lol! They wanted to give everyone a better idea of what to expect and have the current students tell us things that they wish they would have known/done prior to starting NS.

    RN and Autism Mom

Hi everyone, I hope you can help me out here. I have 4 kids (8, 6, and 3yo twins), and my 6yo has autistic disorder. I was just accepted to nursing school. It is a weekend program, so classes/clinicals are Fridays and Saturdays. I am so scared that I am not going to be able to handle everything: 4 kids, one with autism, and nursing school. For you who attended school with a child with autism, how did you handle it? I know that NS is a huge time commitment, but my family cannot suffer the loss of any care and attention. Am I crazy for trying to do this

Parents of kids with autism, please read

It looks like it has been quite a while since anyone posted here, but I thought I would try to ask a question anyway. I have 4 kids (8, 6, and 3yo twins), and my 6yo has autistic disorder. I was just accepted to nursing school. It is a weekend program, so classes/clinicals are Fridays and Saturdays. I am so scared that I am not going to be able to handle everything- 4 kids, one with autism, and nursing school. For you ladies who attended school after having kids, how did you handle it? I know that NS is a huge time commitment, but my family cannot suffer the loss of any care and attention. Am I crazy for trying to do this?
  4. GCC had a Nursing Panel Discussion this past Thursday (10/14), did anyone else attend? I will admit, it scared the crap out of me! They had recent graduates and students from each block and both programs (traditional and weekend) giving advice and answering questions. I am terrified now. I have 4 kids (8, 6, and 3yo twins), and one of my kids has autism. I am so worried about being able to handle all of it.

    Glendale Weekend Program Spring 2011

I am excited to get to you know you ladies too. I told my husband yesterday that I had "met" 2 girls from my class, and he thought I was crazy . I have been on the list for pretty much 5 years! The first time, I used my one time deferral, and then the next time I was placed I had newborn twins, so I had to withdraw my application and reapply. This time I had to use my deferral again, and now I am finally getting in! Things are crazy right now too, but I know that there is never going to be a "perfect" time to start, especially with 4 young children. My time stamp for this application was 2/08. It's been a long time coming!

    Glendale Weekend Program Spring 2011

I thought it would be fun to start a thread for everyone who was accepted to the Glendale Weekend program for Spring 2011. I live in the East Valley, and if there are others out this way maybe we can set up some carpools and study groups.

Having a hard time deciding on a program

Thank you! I decided on the GCC Weekend, since I know for sure I will only be in class/clinical 2 days a week.
  10. I am having such a hard time deciding between the GWCC part-time or GCC weekend programs. My timestamp is 4/25/08 (I had to use my deferral), so I know for sure that I am going to get placed this time. I live in SE Gilbert, so either school will be a long drive for me. GCC is obviously a longer drive, but I would only have to drive out there twice a week (well, 3 if you count driving to the hospital on Thursdays to choose a patient for clinicals). On the status page it says that GWCC is Monday and Tuesday evenings, clinicals on Friday OR Saturday, and a few clinical labs on Wednesdays and Thursdays. I have four kids, including 3-year-old twins and a 6-year-old with autism, and I am just trying to figure out which one will be better for our family. I know that no one can make the decision for me (though I wish someone else would, this is stressing me out!), but does anyone have any input, or is there someone who has done either program that could give me some insight? Also, how are you all planning on paying for your books? That is a big chunck of money to throw down.

    Rio Salado Nursing Program Application

The application process is the same for all of the MCCC programs. I put in my app in 10/06 and just got placed for Spring of '08.

    Rio Salado Nursing

I was just placed in the nursing program at Rio Salado and would love to get info from those that are going through it or have been through it. Are the classes as intense as the prereqs were at Rio? How often are clinicals and where are they at? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
