WGU RN-BSN December 2017. Advice/support appreciated!
Hi there! I will be with you! Starting December 2017 as well. I graduated with my ASN in 2012. I actually am a readmission. I failed miserably before with WGU but my life was a bit different so this time should be much different. I did just read that they changed Biochem to Competwncy so you can just take the test instead of doing tasks and making models. That and the 8 live web classes you have to attend at a specified time for another class. Unsure which it is. I'm accepted and paid up but have no access to anything and haven't talked to any one yet. They had a cool orientation last time and I'm going to call to see if there is still something like that to explain everything. Good Luck all!!

Please don't stress about the NCLEX
Thank you so much for that! Alot of my nursing school peeps are getting their results this weekend and so far we're at a 100%. I KNOW my school prepared us OVERLY well! It's just so scary! I have seven full days left to study. I am doing nothing but CHILLING on the day before. Tomorrow is DD 15 Bday and we're going to the beach but I am going to do questions a little of that time while she is hanging with her friends. I did HUrst so I don't even know why I am freaking. Thank you for the reality check. Also CONGRATS to you, Patientlywaiting2008 RN!!!!!

How do you know if you will be good at clinicals?
Good Luck WDW! I have my first Hospital Orientation tomorrow. I am fairly nervous. This is my first semester in Nursing school. The first half we were in an LTC. I felt like I finally knew what was expected of me and now I am going somewhere else. But I am just nervous b/c the hospital will obviously be a much different patient/setting/diagnoses than LTC. I am trying to prepare today and I just don't know what else to do to get ready. I guess I will go iron my WHITE scrubs. Talk about sticking out like a sore thumb!

ADN in Savannah GA or Columbia SC ?
HI, I attend The Technical College of the Lowcountry in Beaufort,SC to get my ADN. You would get instate tuition if you're in Effingham or Chatham Counties. I am in my first semester right now. I enjoy the program so far, the teachers are organized and good. I know that on paper they have a really good NCLEX pass rate. We were just told a few days ago that once we are done with our first half semester that we can be a Student Nurse Intern at Beaufort Memorial. You can also get your CNA. If you are not familiar with the area, it takes roughly an hour from Downtown Savannah to get to Beaufort. I hope this helps you.

Nursing School... Really??
Hi Lexi. You really hit the nail on the head! For myself it REALLY hit me a few days ago after orientation and after I received my schedule. I am finally there! The last two years of waiting and prereqs is over. I start in January. BUt, uh-oh! Can I actually do this? What was I thinking? NUrsing? Let me pick one of the hardest, most important professions in the world. Yes, I am scared but I am also motivated, intelligent, and very excited to join the profession. Thank you for such a great question and post, to remind me I am not alone. Thanks for the tips, helpingothers.

Health Insurance & Nursing School
Just so you guys know.........I went through NSNA then to United Healthcare. For people over 30 (Im 32) in the stae of SC (don't know if it varies state to state but she asked me age and state) I was quoted a quaterly (every 3 mos.) amount of $100. That is $1200 a year. Just so if I get sick, which I rarely do, I can go pay a copay of $20 bucks. This didn't include checkups ONLY injury and sickness. I am sorry I take precaustions and I have gotten all my vaccines (H1N1 and seasonal flu last month). I guess it burns me up that all of a sudden the day before orientation I get printouts that say I need insurance. They have told me NOT to work during school. I am NOT married. So what am I to do? I am an out of state student til Summer Semester and I am JUMPING to get all my Dental, Vision and Exams/required titers out of the way. Now this? Just another reason to lump in the pile as to why there is a Nursing shortage! /Rant. Orientation is Tomorrow. Hopefully I will have some suggestions that are affordable from the school. Good Luck all.

Accepted...............AGAIN!
Hey Goodnursingstudent! How are you doing? Oh, and thank you!

Accepted...............AGAIN!
Weirdest thing is I thought this school didn't offer Associates degrees. I mean it has "Technical" in the title. They do offer Associates which is what I am doing. They work closely with the University of South Carolina in Beaufort and all credits do transfer, at least to SC Schools. I will say I ran into alot of issues when I tried to transfer credits. I was in school at a community college in Florida for 2 years and this school only took 6 classes. It was a real bummer. Oh, also for others info, this "tech" school also allows you to get Stafford for the Ass. degrees, obviously not for cert. Thanks for the Congrats! It feels really good to know I am back on track. It was a scary time when my plans were disrupted.

Accepted...............AGAIN!
So I had to leave Florida before I started at my First nursing school. Came to SC in March and Just got my NEW acceptance letter from the Technical College of the Lowcountry! Woot! I am so excited. I will be starting in January 2010. If there is anyone else that get an acceptance from TCL, please post and let me know you are here! Everyone else............Let's enjoy this ride! ~Benya

Long Tome Coming......2nd App to Nursing School
Hi, Everyone! It has been a while. I have a little issue I have been going over and over with and I just wanted to get some other peoples input on it. I left a nursing program before I got started in Florida because I had to move back to SC, thanks recession! I had to essentially start from scratch somewhat at a new school. At TCL in Beaufort, SC they use the TEAS in helping determine who gets in. They only take 40 people twice a year and there is no waitlist you just have to keep applying. I took the TEAS and made a very good score, well above the required score. I thought I would take it again, but the advisor told me that they average it if you take it twice. SO if I got lower, I'd be in trouble. Everyone keeps saying my score is great (administrators...not advisor she keeps her opinions to herself and tells you that you have to make your own decision). What would you guys do? The deadline is October 15th, I have turned in my application but I do have one more shot. Oh FYI, I have taken things they do w/in the program. So all I have is clinicals while others have the entire program to finish. In Florida I completed (and more that wasnt transferred) A&P I and II, Micro, Psych, English I and II, and Pre Algebra. However they have no GPA to go by because when they transfer credits they dont give you your actual grade, just the credit. I am in the first teir for the local area they pick from. It is our tri county area, then statewide, then out of state. I believe those are their only three criteria. They don't even interview. TIA
