  1. I took Intro Organic Chem (Chem 1060) at Macomb Community College. It was a hybrid course, which means that the instruction was online with labs from 9 am to noon on Saturdays. The lectures were online, which means that if you missed something he said, you could just rewind and listen again. I loved that part. The instructor (Champagne) was very helpful in the lab, never condescending, always encouraging, and very prompt with e-mails. Exams were given during the lab.
  2. They go by GPA. If you don't make it in on your first try, you'll automatically be put in the next pool of candidates. I can't remember how many they select, but it's around 40. They do outright reject some candidates, but not many. You should go to an information meeting. It'll allay a lot of your fears.
  3. I took the hybrid organic chemistry course at Macomb Community College and it was excellent. The instructor was one of the best teachers I've ever had. If you think about the typical lab science class, it's usually an instructor lecturing for an hour or two or three, then a three-hour lab. It was the same, only instead of sitting in class for the lecture, the lectures were online. He had review sheets for the four exams and the online lectures were reviews of the material that would be on the exam and he usually included several examples of each type of question. The instructor was a very friendly guy, never made you feel stupid, and responded to e-mails. I saw people getting help from him during lab every week. He also had office hours outside of class time. I'm not sure if we're allowed to mention instructor names on this board. If you want more information, the name of the instructor, or anything else about the class, let me know.
  4. Just checked and the couse is still open for Spring/Summer. The cost is $120/credit hour and the registration fee is waived for people who register through the collaborative.
  5. Check this site: http://www.mccvlc.org/ I took Psychology of the Lifespan online at Grand Rapids Community College through the Virtual Learning Collaborative. The course number at Grand Rapids is PY 232. It transferred to Oakland University no problem. If you want more information on the course, let me know. I enjoyed it. I also think it may have been cheaper than OU.
