Those are the "qualifiers" I use to get a job now also. I will not send in tons of paperwork either until I know what is available. Plus I will not take the "PBSD" or whatever the test is called that certain hospitals are using to weed out travelers.
  2. I just had a bad experience with Trustaff. Basically they lied to me until they cost me a job with a hospital. Anyone else had a bad experience with a travel company they would like to share with the rest of us?
  3. Spent 6 months in Alabama because it was close to home. The charge nurse would asign patients each night after a group report. After a while I could tell who I was going to get each night, I just picked out the worst patients and lo and behold I got them. I took it for 4 months then blew up. It got better for a week then went back to the same old routine. Staff did not like travelers and they griped about the hospital 24/7. Am on a much better assignment now.
  4. I travel as a nurse and am seeing things tighten a bit. However, as with all things if you are flexible in where you are willing to go you will find travel nurse positions at good pay.
  5. On my last assignment before my current assignment the department was 80% travelers and we ran the floor, and very well I might add, including being charge nurse. The "screw-ups" were the ones that the hospital hired to replace us. I did see druggies, incompetents, and layout artists but these were the hospital's new hires, not travelers. A $10,000 sign-on bonus brings a lot of people out of the woodwork. So far I have encountered a lot of professionalism among my fellow travelers.
  6. I personally have decided to never take a contract with a hospital that requires the PBDS.
