  1. congrads on getting the job. I really think you're like working at PCMH and living in Eastern NC. After you get settled in maybe we could get together. Again welcome!!!
  2. There is a Habachi Grill and Buffet on Memorial Drive it's all you can eat if you like Chinese and Japanese. For lunch two people can eat for around $10 and $20 for dinner. My husband and I like to fish also you get the best of both fishing worlds here (fresh water/salt water). I see you have gotten some negative remarks about PMCH. I think that is true at any hospital it's depends on the unit and nurse manager. Like I said if you are interested in rehab I think you will enjoy that area the doctors and physician residents are the best and so nice. I may go back there and work for them when I finish school. Someone mention Craven Regional Hospital and from what I've seen during my clincials the nurses there don't seem very happy either at least on the unit where I'm at again I really think it depends on the unit. You will know better once you get here and I'll talk with the nurses I know and get there opinion/advice. If you're not sure about PCMH it is owned by University Health Systems of NC and they also own Heritage Hospital in Tarboro, Chowan in Edenton and Bertie in Windsor so you can move around and still be employeed by the same company. Greenville surrounded by some some towns Winterville is the most popular a lot of the hospital employees live there instead of in Greenville. Here are some other resturants you may like and most of them are on Greenville Blvd. Texas Roadhouse, Crackle Barrell (if you like home cooking) Red Lobster, Ruby Tuesday, May Flower, Outback, Olive Garden, Logan's, O'Charley's Longhorn Steakhouse, to name a few..let me know what you think about your interview, and the area.
  3. Hey WildcatFanRN!! I worked at PCMH Regional Rehabilitation Center for 8 1/2 years. I just started nursing school this past January, so I'm no longer working there, but I think you will enjoy working at PCMH. It is a teaching hospital that works closely with East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine. PCMH has just opened the new heart hospital (you will not be able to miss it...it towers over PMCH). I think sometime in 2010 they are planning on expanding the women's and children's hospital. So job opportunities ought to be great. Every one I've ever come in contact with through the years have been friendly and helpful..it will not take you long to established new friends here. G'ville is a college town and it is changing and expanding as well. We have a lot of resturants to choose from, but as far as night life goes I'm 39 so I will not fit in the downtown scene there are a couple of hotels (City Bistro and Hilton that have lounges that bring in bands on the weekend that caters 30s 40s crowd. We are about 1 hr from Raleigh if you like the big city scene. 1 1/2 to 3 hrs to the beach depending which beach you go to and about 6 hrs to the mountains. About 2 hrs to Virginia and about 4-5 hrs to Myrtle Beach (my favorite stomping ground). I hope this helps...I think you will really like working at PCMH and living in G'ville or G-Vegas (college kids I think started that..lol..). Good luck with your interview and if I can be us further assistance just let me know..
  4. Hey Kaystho, Nursing school is going great. It is very fast paced. Unit tests every week (with at least 6 chapters on test). To maintain a B/C you will need to study at least 42 hours a week. When I'm not in class I'm home studying (I'm sure my family and friends think I've falling off the face of the earth...lol). I'm sure you will do great on the TES test. Be sure to get as much of your Pre-Reqs done as possible. Let me know when you get in. Good Luck!!!
  5. It's Spring/Summer/Fall/Spring/Summer. I think in the past they must have omitted the summer, but changed it back to include summer semester. My graduation date is 9/1/2010. I would apply for Fall (09) and if accepted if you don't get to start that Fall they will have you start in Spring '10. That's what happend to me. :nuke:
  6. I totally understand how your wife feels, but please encourage her to never give up. I agree with the other postings and would like to add that it may help your wife if before a test she take the material and "teach" it to you or someone else. I'm a visual and auditory learning so it helps to hear my self go over the things I've learned in class. It seems to stick better and come test time I'm more ampt not to "freeze up" (if this makes sense). She maybe already doing this, but a study group may be helpful. Good luck!!!
  7. As far as I know they have always had spring nursing admission. I applied to all the nursing programs in my area and got on the waiting list on all of them except Craven. I signed up for my classes and ordered my uniforms last Wednesday. I've heard good things about the program there and very excited about starting in January. If you haven't applied I encourge you too.
  8. Hi Everybody!!! I'm starting the RN program at CCC in January '09 and was wondering if anybody else is starting in January or if anyone in the Fall '08 class has any advice for us? Thanks!!!!:)
  9. Greetings Everyonel!!! I got my acceptance letter to one of the local community college (Spring 09). I have an opportunity to move to Fall '08 if a slot becomes available. I have to wait till after April 15th to find out about the other community college I applied to which if accepted I'll start this Fall '08. I'm anxious to find out so I'll know when to turn in my resignation letter at my job. I can't wait to start nursing school. It has been a long hard road for me. I just turned 38 was a single mom to a great son who is now 17 up till this past Dec when I married a wonderful man who loves and supports us. I could only take one or two courses at a time (sometimes I had to take a semester or two off). I'm taking A&P II and my last psychology (I still have to take a math and computer class, but the hard part is almost over).
