  1. thanks so much for your response....another question for you..... do you think that even in very small amounts (say 30cc) of a sterile water irrigation soln. entered into the bladder via a foley can still cause a certain degree of cell damage or do you think that this is just when sterile water irrigation are used in large amts? by the way, forgive me for not knowing, but was does OTOH mean? one more thing, although it is rare for this to happen, if the foley bulb that has "sterile water" in it bursts from overinflation or some other cause then do you think there is danger of the 10cc of sterile water entering the system and causing cell damage? YOu would think that if this were the case, then the manufacturer would decide to use a different type of soln. to prep. the foley trays.....just thinking out loud here....please let me know what you think.......thanks
  2. so eventhough sterile water is hypotonic and hemolytic, it is still okay for use in irrigation.....just been reading a lot of articles re: normal saline vs sterile water use in irrigation of bladder and it seems the literature is controversial....seems as if a lot of urologists use either or.....read something about being able to visualize the bladder better with sterile water....have you heard this as well?
  3. Do you know if sterile water is used to irrigate the bladder during a TURP or is it Normal Saline?
  4. Anyone know if it is okay to use Sterile Water to flush a foley catheter rather than normal saline?
  5. Like I said before, many of my fellow classmates waited a long time for results....Stay Positive! The board actually says that it should take 3-4 weeks to get your results, and I believe they have to notify you w/in 30 days. Good Luck!
  6. ari you made my evening! thanks for the support! seelo,rn
  7. I found out today via the BRN website that I passed! I had 75 questions and was positive that i failed, but i didn't....so all of you out there still waiting for results, keep your chin up and keep believing in yourself! Chances are you passed! I wish you all the very best. Your threads have kept my spirits up and made me think more positive throughout this waiting game! Seelo, RN..................yeah, what a great feeling!
  8. it doesn't mean you didn't pass, you most likely did! I just found out today July 29 and took on July 26...it was a miracle. I am from California. Four of my classmates took the exam and here is how it went: 1 took it on July 1st and found out yesterday(July 28) via the website 1 took it on July 7th and found out July 26 via the website 2 took it on July 13th and found out July 21st. Don't sweat it....it is just random who finds out first, it may also be a transcript problem. SEELO, RN
  9. Droplet, Contact and Airborne precautions and cohorting pts ...i had lots of these types of questions. Otherwise relax and be confident as you have been doing and you will do fine.
  10. Thanks for all the encouraging words. I really needed it! I just found out today that I passed Boards via the BRN website, I am an RN! I waited so long for this and worked so hard to achieve this goal! I really thought I failed that thing at 75! I had a horrible feeling that I bombed many of the questions especially the last 5, But I didn't! I literally came home and looked up all the questions that I could remember, I was driving myself crazy. For all of you still waiting for your results, I wish you the best! The odds are in your favor.....85% passing rate for those educated in the US and taking the test for the first time. A little break down of my test: pharm questions Lots of priority questions room cohorting OB Diets hanniebabes99, to answer your question: I took the Test in California on Monday, July 26 and found out today, the 29th, via the BRN website, my name came up at about 7 am this am! Apparently they update Mon-Fri. Keep checking! Good Luck. You more than likely passed! Congrats in advance. Seelo, RN
  11. Anyone know if getting the last question wrong at the 75 mark has anything to do with passing or failing........?
  12. I took the NCLEX-PN in Feb 2004. I got 85 questions and passed. I studied theSaunders RN book and Delmars PN book. My advice to use is #1 know you diets(religions, cultural, hypertension) and lab values. If you know these, you will be golden. I got a lot of teaching type questions also. Lots of OB(PIH, Hyperbili), some Peds(growth and development). Just think positive and tell yourself you are going to pass, get a good night sleep the night before, don't study the day before, and take a break during the test eventhough its optional. Seelo
  13. Thanks for your help!
  14. THanks for the response.....one more question?? If you were running the IVPB on its own and were just going to flush the line after it was done, would you set the IVPB VTBI at a lesser rate so it won't run dry..like 45cc VTBI for a 50cc bag?
  15. Thanks for the response..... At your hospital what is TKO, is it 40-50cc/hr? and how long can you run this for w/o and order? Would you just disconnect after about and hr and go back to the hep loc if no other IV tx are scheduled? thanks again
