Have you tried correctional facilities? You may even find a correctional treatment facility, that is court ordered drug treatment. I worked for 14 yrs. in a correctional facility and when I transitioned out, psych nursing was the best fit for me....so I thought maybe just the opposite may work for you! Good Luck!

I worked at a correctional facility for 15 years and we took the meds to the inmates at their cells everyday. Now I do know that there is a difference between pre-sentenced facilities and post-sentenced facilities. Is your facility a prison or a jail? My facility was a jail, which is pre-sentenced, and supposedly there are stricter guidelines on these things. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Do you really think that psych nurses are more prone to mental illness? Or could it be that working in a psych/mental health capacity makes you more comfortable to discuss these issues openly? I have a feeling that these dx. you speak of with psych nurses are everywhere but that psych nurses have evolved past the stereotypes associated with mental illness. Just a thought.
