  1. Pacemakers

If I can go, I'll let you know.
  2. Pacemakers

I'm trying to get to NASPE, but my manager is being a pain. It's nice to see other EP types out there, especially lurking on an anesthesia forum. I,too, am considering anesthesia school.
  3. Pacemakers

Hello all-- I'm an EP nurse who does ICD implants and followup. This topic has been near and dear to my heart this week after we had a bovie-related "near-miss" in our EP lab. I just wanted to say that you really need to think twice before putting a...
  4. ?? about palpitations

Try cutting back on caffeine. If the palpitations really interfere with your life, call a cardiologist. You may wind up with an implanted loop recorder to watch things for an extended period of time. They're easy to place and easy to remove.
  5. I need info on post angio bed rest

Our docs usually have them stay flat 4-6 hours, depending on the particular physician (most use 6Fr. sheaths). With Angioseal and Perclose, most will allow them up after 1 hour. Many won't use closure devices, primarily because of a really baaaad exp...
  6. Pay Scale

Most Cincinnati hospitals pay from about $16 to $23. University pays up to about $30 (for those not doing the clinical ladder thing). I think Children's pays about $2-$3/hour less than the others--they're a niche hospital.
  7. Pacemaker Patient

I'm a cath/EP nurse. I'm learning to do more follow-up on pacemakers & ICD's. In our hospital, many pacer/ICD patients will go home the same day. They follow up in the cardiologist's office where their pacemaker nurses will interrogate and rep...
  8. New Stents

Maybe the doc didn't use IIB/IIIA's? Maybe they didn't even give a heparin bolus? I think some physicians think these stents eliminate the need for anticoagulants (which, of course, is wrong).
  9. New Stents

We're using them as fast as we can get them. The problem is trying to establish exactly how to use them. Yesterday, we used a few in patients who would've gone for CABG just three weeks ago. Some of our docs are discussing using them in left main ...
  10. Nursing care for pacemaker patients

You asked about pacing being a good area for nurses. Answer: ABSOLUTELY!! I work in a cath/EP lab where we do angiography, interventions, and all electrical procedures. All of us are trained to assist in the procedures, and three of us (I am one of...
  11. angioseal

Hello all: I'm a cath lab nurse and let me say that I love the angioseal, particularly the new "springless" ones. Frankly, we've had fewer problems with the angioseals than with any of the other closure devices we've used. The key, (IMHO) is to kee...
